More recruits are in the pipeline as Andy Awford revamps his Pompey squad.


But the Blues boss has warned not all his signings will be in place for the start of pre-season.

Paul Jones put pen to paper on a three-year deal on Wednesday to fill one of his two goalkeeping spots.

He joins Danny Hollands and Nicky Shorey in committing themselves to the Blues under boss Awford.

Strengthening is still required, in particular in the centre of midfield and up front, as he builds on the nucleus of a decent squad.

Meanwhile, John Sullivans exit is being negotiated and David Connollys future at the club remains in doubt.

Pompeys pre-season begins on Thursday, June 26 – a week earlier than usual.

But Awford insists his squad will not necessarily be complete by that point.

He said: I am pleased with how it is going – things are progressing well with the squad.

We have lots of targets and we are talking to them. We are still on the A list.
