    For Tundra

    Heres something that we were talking about on here recently Tundra, does this bring back memories of Canada's qualification for 1986 ?

    Just out of interest then, why didnt the national team improve after that. I dont think they have qualified since then have they! - view external link

    Thanks for posting that video, Acido, brings back happy memories. There are a number of reasons Canada has not reached the international stage that is The World Cup since 1986 (mind now, this is my opinion only, so may be suspect at the best of times):

    1) We are still relatively successful in football as a national side; Canada has done well in North American events since then, including winning the CONCAFCA Cup in 2000, but never quite made it to the top again;

    2) It is difficult to pull together Canada's best players to practice on a regular basis, our top guns are playing on clubs all over the world and cannot always get away for practice sessions and/or games. When players can they may find it difficult to play instinctively with those who they have only a few short weeks a year to work with;

    I dont know much about the Concacaf region of Fifa, and I cant say how good or how hard that area is when it comes to qualifiers.

    But would it be fair to say USA & Mexico would struggle if they had to play in the European groups ? South Korea as well qualify every time now, but they wouldnt make it either against the harder qualifying teams.

    Not so sure how the USA, Mexico. Costa Rica and Honduras would fare if they played in the European groups, but the first three have advanced to the final 16 knock out stage and Spain, Italy and England (and most likely Portugal and possibly Russia and Switzerland) are going home empty handed, so the former trio must be doing something right!

    The CONCACAF region is improving at a fast rate!!
