    England v CR

Nice to see someone between the sticks more interested in saving shots than advertising products. It's been refreshing to see an England keeper make a save tonight.

Our two (Lallana & Shaw) have done well, but disappointing to see Woy revert to type and throw on the old guard.

Woy took us in to these finals with the lowest expectations we've ever had as a nation (which is sad), but even worse, he failed to meet those pathetically low expectations. Even sadder, is that the FA will continue to reward a man who fails to achieve, by some considerable distance, even a basic level of mediocrity

The most depressing thing about that game was that Hodgson thought it was a very good performance. It was just another typical extremely mediocre England display, against a disinterested Costa Rica side no less.

Shaw was one of the few highlights, Lallana was ok but nowhere near his best. Lampard awful, Sturridge his usual greedy self, crap first touch and couldn't hit a cow's backside. The sentimental run outs for the likes of Lampard, Gerrard and Rooney say it all.

It's hard to believe England could be worse than four years ago, but sadly it seems no lessons were learned from the last WC. New broom needed to sweep right through.

In Hodgson, the FA have a simplistic man, happy to tow the company line and wallow in mediocrity not being achieved. Why would the FA want to change that?

If ever we were fortunate enough to get a new broom, it's first job would be to rid the FA of its Jurassic hierarchy - but we all know that will never happen

Game was screaming out for Lambert, quite why he was taken is anyone's guess.

Congratulations to Costa Rica for reaching the last 16, worthy group winners.

In other news, it would appear that Suarez has been up to his old tricks again, he's a mental tbf.

He's hungry for success, which is a trait no one could level at our squad/management.

With Barca and Real Madrid taking an interest in young Luis, this may just give Brendan the opportunity he needs to move him on and take the money, that they clearly lack, to make a decent cash up front offer for Lallana.

With regards to Wilshire and Barkley. Talented players, but why do they need to touch the ball 6 or 7 times before passing it?
Shaw and Lallana were mainly 1 touch, pass, keeping the move going. Wilshire and Barkley just drew pressure on themselves, generally losing possession.

I think the only time Wilshire hit a first time pass, he put Sturridge in for that dead cert, that he missed, again. Was it 5 attempts with none on target, for Sturridge?

Ben Foster was MOM for me, I thought he put in an excellent display between the sticks. It's encouraging to know that we don't have to put up with that tit Joe Hart for too much longer.

All this Hodgson out nonsense is doing my head in too.

We play 100mph football in our league, with passion, pace, and 'get stuck in' the favoured ingredients over skill.
There is not a manager alive that could turn 'English style' players into a competitive international team. Skill trumps passion 99% of the time.
