    World Cup TV commentary !!!!

After poor old Phil Neville did anyone else think that Danny Murphy was a motormouth in the Spain game last night?

    Way too much verbals...

Why blood these newcomers in the Worlds biggest showcase

Interesting point that, Sween. It made me realise that for most of the time I wasn't even listening to what was being said, more concentrating on the game than anything else.

Just like I never hear the commentary when I go to a match! I find Robbie Savage quite objective, but most of the others are just background noise and rather superfluous. Do we really need them? They are useful for identifying players we don't know, but that's about it IMHO.

I have to agree Sween. It is some times better to say nothing than go rambling on and on. Some of what he said had value, but you were given the impression that he was trying to prove how knowlegable he was. There is a difference commentating on television and commentating on radio.

I don't know if anyone realises, but BBC red button sometimes has Radio 5 commentary as alternative to BBC 1, same game, different pundits.

Thanks for that, Gav. I hadn't realised that.

I have found in the past, that radio commentary with 'no sound' TV is a better option than total TV.

It's not all the time, but sometimes because of the tennis, you're stuck with BBC1.

I just try and concentrate more on the game than who's commentating. It's people like Adrian Chiles in the studio on ITV1 that i think is more annoying.

I've just done it. I think I prefer it with the radio commentary. Exciting match, this one!
