    Did Italy take a bung?

Was the Italy who played England, the same Italy who played Costa Rica?

We all know that England is not the most popular nation in the World, often because of our belief in fair play, sportsmanship and our deep searching press pack.

FIFA do not like the fact that the English press take every opportunity to expose the potential corruption that appears to exist amongst it's organisation. An organisation that has a strong Italian presence.

Italy as we all know are not adverse to a little corruption and would happily see England out of the prestigious World Cup. FIFA would almost see it as a punishment for all the grief that is applied to them by our media.

I have no proof but it would be no great surprise to me that a little more scullduggery has not taken place, in the upper echelons of the mighty FIFA..

I wouldn't put it past them on their showing against Costa Rica. Balotelli had a couple chances, both half hearted efforts at best. Then there was the numerous times Italy were ruled offside. Conspiracy theories? i'm having none of it

Holland thrash World Champions Spain in the first game- struggle past Australia in the second. Despite Italy's history of domestic match-fixing and the like, this is simply the joys of tournament football

To make it work a number of people would have to be in on the fix. Other than bribing the referee, I can see no way it could be done and even then it would be hard to cover up!

As the Nurse character said, in "Romeo & Juliet," "Two people can keep a secret as long as one of them is dead!" (I paraphrase)

Expect more breaking news on corruption in Football betting. It would appear that Ghana may be involved although it does not seem to be directly connected to the World Cup.

It would appear that agents have been offering hundreds of thousands of pounds/dollars for them to throw matches. Referees are thought to be involved and Channel 4 are looking to expose this.

It would also appear that the Netherlands are not happy with FIFA over the fixture schedule, involving Brazil. Are FIFA totally blameless?

Cameroon are the latest team to be connected with match fixing, this time in the World Cup.

It would appear that their match against Croatia is being put under the microscope.

Where large sums money are concerned there is always potential for corruption.

    Watch this space.

There was no chance of Cameroon winning their Group after losing their opening game to Mexico 1-0; after that they either were 'crap', gave up, or threw their two remaining games, which they lost by a combined score to Croatia and Brazil of 8-1! Of the three possibilities I would guess that they caved in after losing to Mexico. Anyone know if they were promised money as an incentive by their government or sports' body for every win...or something like that?
