    dougie freedman.

my view most of the time dougies has managed us is hes a grade one tosser.but recently the stuff ive read puts him in a very good light to me.we all know is views get rid of the over paid wasters and try to blood youth if they are good enough.and certainly I think most of us are very happy with that. The way he trains and prepares players, the scientific way almost big samesque.been reading we are using player GPS systems in the pre season games. His problems are daft squad rotations, and pathetic negative tactics, mixed in with bizzar substitutions.if it wasn't for the latter three negative things ive just stated, may be he could be one hell of a manager.but sadly alas I believe he will never change his negative ways, and daft squad rotation policy so ultimately,in my view wont see next season out before being sacked. :/ :/

I admit to not being very appreciative of him or his negative tactics. He tinkers with the team too much for my liking.

But everyone keeps telling me to give him time, let him get rid of the deadwood and high earners.

So I will sit back and await the outcome.

I think it was 6 home wins last season. However you try and paper over it, that was a disgrace.

His main problem apart from the tinkering and negative tactics are the permanent signings he made last year, especially Hall, Beckford, Baptiste, Tierney, they are on very good championship wages but unfortunately they are all $hit. Beckford I see has already started off where he left last season, missing a penalty in the first friendly, we will never go up if he is our main attacking threat, get rid before it is too late

I'm still hopeful that Dougie will come good but it's hopeful rather than confident!!

I like his signings so far and the season-long loan for McNaughton actually now makes me think that we might be able to defend.

Get the Juke and/or Mason, or another decent striker, and we've got a half-decent team.

I'l give him the first 6 games to see if he can avoid his ridiculous rotation of players and until the beginning of December to see whether or not we can be at least top 6

I don't know what it is, but I do tend to have a soft spot for Dougie. Yes, he is far too negative, his substitutions are questionable and his squad rotation system is phooking irritating!

However, he inherited a poor premiership side in the Championship, that was simply full of rubbish, overpaid and mentally weak players, that simply were not capable of adapting to the rough and tumble of the Championship.

Dougie has obviously been told from Gartside & Eddie that he needs to bring in freebies and get rid of the overpaid rubbish that Coyle brought in and keep in line with the FFP, if this rule ever comes into fruition?

Dougie is out of contract at the end of this coming season and he will "not be sacked" if it's going tits up, as I very much doubt the club will want to risk the compensation for him and all of his staff. I will give Dougie until the end of the season and if we make the playoffs and lose at the first hurdle, I would give Dougie a new deal, as I think not many managers

I think Freedman is just winding his contract down now until it finishes!

    I don't think it's debatable Gary! I think you're bang on.

There isn't anyone who I see as any better than Dougie at the minute that we could attract or afford.

Seeing as we have given him the time to get rid of all the Coyle / Megson sh1te and start to build his own side, it would be silly to get rid, even if we have dodgy start. If we do, then we just carry on the merry go round of failure, squad changes etc and never actually make any progress.

Having said that I do expect to see some maturity and balance with respect to line ups and tactics, last season should have taught him all he needs to know. I think "as a man" we all agree that the constant changes to the starting line-up with no connection to a players current form does not work. If that lesson is not learnt then I dont think he will get a new deal.

    re: dougie freedman.

We all know what Dougies failings are, rotation and negative tactics. I think he has assembled a good championship squad who want to play for Bolton and have pride in wearing the shirt. The players he has kept on and the players he has brought to the club this summer you have to assume have bought into his philosophy. It looks promising for some youngsters to break through as well. so I will look on this season with curiosity and optimism at the beginning anyway.

It's the most optimistic I've felt for a while (providing that we get a striker in) but the first 6 games will tell us a lot about his selection policy
