BobH strikes for a second time.
Only 18 more to go.
I thought I knew the answer to 16 but was wrong. In researching I came across a great website referencing banned 'rock and roll' and the reason why.
My favourite:
1965. The BBC refused to play The Who's "My Generation", saying they did not want to offend people who stuttered.
and we say we've gone PC mad these days.
PS Don't go to the link to cheat for the correct answer as it is on there. - view external link
I'm stuck nowI know 20, his second from your clue cant remember his first DOH!!!
CAM, genuine thanks for your self restraint.
I don't know the site you refer to but I'll check it out sometime tomorrow.
Great quiz Mr Z, I'm looking forward to seeing the answers.
15. I don't think they had many more no 1's after that, if any at all, but maybe one or two more in the US?
Jagger's first solo album was She's The Boss, I'm fairly sure about that.
Edit, sorry if you meant single would that be Memo From Turner?
we were talking tuther day (myself and brother in law) about one of the drifters dying at 38 dont know his sumat like mcfadden and if it was a heart attack
so my wild punt at question 20
Cayton, you must be thinking of Clyde McPhatter. He died of heart, liver and kidney failure at the age of 39 due to excessive drinking.
He was the first artist to become a double inductee of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, first for his work with the Drifters and then as a solo performer.
Alas, he's not the answer to No.20.
Sota, that's No.15 in the bag.
The Stones had 8 UK No. 1 hits in the 1960s but surpringly none at all after that.
"Memo From Turner" was Jagger's first solo hit single. Turner, as you'll know being the character he played so memorably in the film "Performance". The first time I saw it at the cinema I was knocked out by it...oh and the hot babe he sacked out with on camera (allegedly for real) Anita Pallenberg, who was Keith Richards' 'old lady' for a great many years and Marianne Faithfull's best friend.
A bit incestuous? Not for these two guys. All every day stuff.
