It's rare I ever say this but fair play to the Celtic fans who continue to follow their team away from home these days...they get absolutely mugged price-wise to watch almost meaningless games, nearly always with weird kick-off times.

I've just noticed the walk up prices for the new season.
Adults in the East Stand 19 pounds and 23 elsewhere.
We have a category 'Premium Entry' at an astonishing £27 for Celtic games.
If that doesn't get you going how about £29 for cheapest adult entry to Celtic v Dundee United!
Inverness will charge 'Well fans £21 when we visit.
Any more?

We have our own problems to deal with without bothering about anybody else but if celtic are charging £29 for home games to their own fans will be even emptier than it was last season as their fans know they will still walk away with league and if they get papped out tonight will be even more depressed than us if thats possible.
Saints fan here, agree prices are far too high and from the Saints site, quite a few are not going to visit Motherwell on the opening day for that very reason.Even at £20 for home games its vastly overpriced, dont know where they get those prices from and its reflected in the sparse crowds.Probably time for fans to just vote with their feet until the clubs get real.
FFS what do the cretins that run out game actually do. Do they look at trends , do they look at how visting supports having been dying on their arse for years .. so what do we do? we hike the price. I hope it bites them on the arse. These idiots will see the final demise of our game. Maybe the Well Society can ask the club to produce projections that made them arrive at the price hike for visiting fans and what planning assumptions were that brought about the principal that it will increase revenue. Could they also ask them if they know how much a gallon of petrol a pint of beer and a pie is? Could they also ask them if they have heard of the term austerity.
All that happens by screwing visiting fans the other clubs then screw us.
I find it absolutely shocking that a product like our game which is declining in quality, is actually going up in price. We all know that clubs are facing financial difficulties, but this is starting to get to the ridiculous stage now.
There is very little atmosphere at games and I'm not sure how these gate prices can be justified by anyone. I don't blame anyone who decides to no longer go for this very reason.
It's getting out of hand at some clubs in England too, but at least they are selling out their grounds each and every week.
Has there ever been a petition or a group set up to try to sort this situation out?
Are they? Most games outside the English premiership don't sell out. Even in televised games featuring premeirship clubs you'll see empty seats.Originally Posted by swmfc123

Sorry, I was just referring to the English Premier League. Is there any chance if we could replicate the German model that it would work? Or are clubs in our league only really going to get the loyal fanbase, so have to charge these prices?
Scottish football has no chance of replicating the German model for various reasons.
In fairness to most clubs, they have now realised good value season tickets - particularly if you're taking kids - is a must. What I find remarkable is that absolutely no effort is made by anyone to encourage away fans.
The country is so small, and in our case we're easily accessible with a national rail station, we should be making a massive effort to fans from other clubs to come watch their team at Fir Park.
Almost everyone picks and chooses their away games these days, we should try to make sure as many as possible pick us - 15 quid a ticket, 25 quid and you can take up to four under-12s with you, assuming you buy in advance.
I'd even turn one of the under-used boxes in the South Stand into a bar if possible, or set up a bottle bar in the gym and flog them booze.
Or why not invite them to bring their own announcer with them - there's no reason why the St Mirren guy on Saturday couldn't be wi
That is definitely a very valid point about away fans. There's no question that far fewer away fans are taking up space in the South Stand and that's even from the teams with bigger supports.
Regarding prices for home matches, how would you price them for adults and kids in a way that is attractive for fans and gets more people in the ground, but is also realistic in order to make money for the club? Bear in mind that we would sell more pies, drinks, items at the club shop and programmes.
I'll start it off by saying £12 for adults and £8 for kids.
