The meltdown that was this transfer window..

Overall, very pleased with how the transfer window panned out and, assuming the new signings gel (initial impressions are excellent), then it looks like we'll have a stronger squad than we did this time last year.

Of all our departures, I remain most disappointed to lose Chambers - whilst he was our 2nd choice RB, he's a great talent who I'd loved to have seen play in a more central role for us, at least for a season or so.

And not underestimating the value of still having Morgan, JRod, Cork, Boruc, Big Vic et al on the books, either - what a bonus that is.

Definitely got positive vibes for this season..

I'd agree with that totally Papa. I think we've enough in place to hold our own this season now.

Not forgetting the juggernaut of talent that's about to roll off the conveyer belt that is our academy.

From what I've seen so far, West Brom being the exception, Saints are playing with a higher tempo, more physical style. Could be a better season than last. Some great business done there and looking forward to good things happening.

All looks like good business with a strong looking squad now in place. Should be a good season.
Only question in my mind is the value of Long at £12 milllion. Hope he proves me wrong.

This window has proven to be outstanding in my opinon. We now have the squad to be able to cope comfortably with either a 4-3-3, a 3-5-2 and a 5-3-2.

Not only do we have a manager now that has a plan B, he also has a plan C!

This season is going to be alright, you know.

True, but that's the going rate now and there have been some real 'WTF?' fees paid this summer. McCormack £11M, Welbeck £16M etc...

Anyway after the most turbulent summer probably in the club's history you would have to say we have come out of it not looking too bad at all. I was very disappointed about Gaston's departure as I felt he could have had a big role to play this season. Wouldn't surprise me if he is a real success at Hull.

But overall I think the board deserve a pat on the back. They have faced an almost impossible task this summer, but looking at the squad now we look to have come out the other side relatively unscathed.

Well done Les, Ralph and co.

It looks like it's all turned out ok in the end then, perhaps there's a lesson to me to learn in having patience?
Some very good additions to our squad that as already said give us a better variety of options than we had last season and we have a much stronger group of centre halves to choose from.
Having thought about it a bit i think the Gaston loan deal is a pretty smart move on our part, much as we all really want to see him fulfill his huge potential here, how long do we have to wait? I've seen comments saying that this season could be the year that he blossoms, but we said that last year and it didn't happen. A club like Saints can't afford to have a player on 60 odd grand a week playing the odd 20 minute cameo and then being injured for the next 2 matches which is what he has become here. As i understand it Hull have paid us a pretty substantial loan fee and are paying his wages so we will see if another manager and team can get him playing, if he does well then we can either ha

Agree. There was a fair bit of panic going on but those who said wait were proved right despite the best efforts of the green eyed to install panic about meltdowns and fire sales. Lets hope that wait and see will also hold good to allow the new players time to settle in.

...Oh and we still have J Rod to come back.
