St Johnstone's late goal beats Motherwell

Oh dear. It always looked like 'first goal's the winner' and so it proved. It could be a long hard season :-) - view external link

bitter sweet loss, i thought on the whole the play was acceptable and some last second defending kept the score level. Even had one cleared right off the line. Hammel will provide even more support as will Vigurs. Very happy with O'Brien and looking for 6 pts and a cup win in September.

I'm glad you found it bittersweet because I saw zero positives from that and don't see where or how it's going to get better any time soon. We are slow, rigid and pedestrian and our build up play is laboured and unimaginative. St.Johnstone weren't anything special today but they didn't have to be, they just went about their business and in the end got the reward. I thought our midfield today was pathetic, completely overrun and Josh Law in particular was nothing more than a passenger.

The Ross County match in two weeks is a six pointer because they are looking increasingly like they are going to be one of our relegation rivals this season because I really don't believe that McCall has what it takes to get us out of this mess. The luck we carried in huge slices at times last season has deserted us so far and he doesn't appear able to adapt to losing a few players to injury. That's when you see the sign of a good manager and McCall is failing on that front.

The sinking ship dips a litt

Vigurs couldn't put on his own support never mind do anything for us. A lazy non trier that we can't afford to indulge. We played ok until final 3rd. Created buggger all neither did they but I really wish I had a pound for every time I've seen us lose that self same goal at that self same end and the self same fpuckin time.

I agree in general but it doesn't help when Law is played out of position for over 45 minutes.

The chancer that is McCall is finally being found out for what he is. The money we have lost due to him is frightening. The same lame excuses game after game. 1 goal in five games says it all. Im sick of hearing about the injuries . So what. We were shi!te before they happened and we will be sh!te after they have cleared up. The squad has been run down to the bare bones no one to challange the rotten performances on the park. I wish we could afford to get shot of him.

What a load of rubbish. This man has taken the team to second spot on two occasions back to back. This is the best league performance in decades. He deserves a lot more respect than he's getting from the forums.

Whilst this is a horrendous run of results that gives real justification for any assertion that we will be nothing more than relegation fodder this season, I think the real debate should be about the real reasoning behind this mess.

Does the blame rest squarely at McCall's door?

Granted, his tactics are at times questionable (especially in big games) and at present, the fitness levels of the entire squad appear unforgivably poor.

However, as my dear old departed faither used to say "you can only pee wi the c0ck you've got!" and given the perpetually limiting resources, wasn't this crash inevitable regardless of who was our manager?

As Derek Adams proved this week, past records can count for nothing when the results are against you. But considering that attendances have continually dropped year on year despite a record book era for the club, the well trust failing to meet its target and the loss of anticipated media incomes, is it fair to just simply blame the team manager for losin

Some truth in what you say. The club does seem rudderless, directionless and leaderless off the field just now. We don't even have a Ch
