OT Council's car park plan for Forge Island

Rotherham Council is planning to operate Forge Island, the site of the current Tesco store in the town centre, as an off street car park with free short stay parking spaces for shoppers. - view external link

Whenever I see the words council and planning appear together I give an involuntary shudder. The current chaos resulting from the decision to turn Main Street roundabout into a crossroads is a case in point. Bus passengers are being stranded in town or having to wait ages at bus stops. It now takes me 30 minutes to get into town when it used to take 5. And all this unnecessary work (why not just install lights like they did on the B&Q roundabout)timed to perfection to coincide with the start of the football season. Council Planning? - don't make me larf!

The Liquid roundabout scheme is to open up sites like forge island and guest & chrimes for further development.

Worth it for 9 months hassle?

Saying that, it is more about making sure the road infrastructure can handle the increases predicted with 2,400 new houses at bassingthorpe farm

I escaped a bit back but still try and accentuate the positives. Everything they do now is tarnished though and they only have themselves to blame.

The people left working in regeneration and economic development had a difficult enough job before it came out that their colleagues at the council and councillors were blatantly failing young people along with the police.

Disgusting what is happening at Bassingthorpe Farm, 3 Generation of Farmers currently work that land,. RMBC to take it up the trumper off Sheffield to accommodate their overspill.

Agree with your comments about RIDO, they will definitely be saying the AMP is in Sheffield now.
