However, I think his scoring record does stack up. He's got more competitive goals than anyone else and when you look at who he got them against, there's not too many minnows in there. Average opponents yes, but not the whipping boys.

IMO, the FA has to implement a root and branch change to the development and continued progression of young English talent in this country - perhaps those at Lancaster Gate could do worse than having a flick through the blueprints followed by Germany and Spain in recent years.
