    'Well refuse to lose

Three huge points earned with a gutsy showing from the lads. We rode our luck but we were due some. - view external link

I dont get this "we could have been a few goals down" sure Utd played a lot of fancy stuff in 1st half but how many direct shots did our keeper deal with with in the 90 mins... nice fancy stuff is all well n good but if theres nowt at the end of it how does that make them unlucky not to have scored a few tonight... We hit the post had a perfectly good goal chalked off , ojama had a shot that went round the post by a baw hair their keeper had a great save with his legs in the dying minutes and we scored the winning goal.

I actually think we had the better chances and they had the better outfield play.

You're correct - the only factor that saved us in the first half was the opposition's poor finishing. Time and time again they waltzed through or around us and (thankfully) they wasted chance after chance.

I still think we were fortunate to be level at the break.

But great credit to our lot, especially in the second half, they refused to crumble, kept them out and got the goal that mattered.

I think I'll have another Highland Park ;-)

I agree. My first emotion was one relief at picking up the 3 points. There's no doubting that the players showed much more hunger and determination than in previous games, but what is less clear is why that was. United shot themselves in the foot by turning up and going through the motions expecting to win against a "poor" team. For that Jackie McNamara must take the blame - he had no cause to blame the officials.

It was certainly a game of 2 halves and but for poor finishing United would have been out of sight by half time. They won nume

Absolutely massive result for us last night and the level of effort from us was night and day to what we've had so far this season - a very typical reaction by the players to losing the manager.

On another day we could have been well beaten mind you and I Expect United to do just that in the cup game as I think they just turned up and expected to win last night, hence their line up.

Long way to go, but three points is a very good start.

re the ainsworth for law substitution you obviously missed the fact that twice in 10 mins ainsworth tracked townsend back to the penalty box then let him run on for 2 free headers that he made a mess of thankfully. Law comes on and within 2 mins tracks townsend all the way into the 6 yard box and clears another cross to the back post heading for him to knock in - thats why he put a right back on for a winger.

Utd managed two shots on target , they are not invincible... yeah they move the ball about sweetly but we created the better chances. Ill be happy if they play aw the fancy dan stuff under the sun with the same penetration as they did last night in the cup game.

Had Vigurs not left Reid completely exposed all night Utd wouldnt have got a fraction of the cross balls they did into our area.
