    Change The System

Well it's clear after today's performance and 2 wins in 5 days that we need to change the formation. we need to have a plan B. we need to do something. it's just not working and we all know better than McClaren

FFS trust in the man. his record at derby speaks for its self. we don't need to panic every time a 50/50 game doesn't go our way. we're not gonna win every single game.

brilliant performance from the lads, the management and the fans today. we're so lucky to have this team to support. lets show some appreciation. well done dcfc.

We do need a plan B.

We didn't need it today. A combination of Derby playing brilliantly and Wolves defending badly meant we romped home with 5 goals that could easily have been more.

We already know we can do that when the game suits. But I doubt we could have hit 5 past Wigan or Millwall even if we did play well, simply because they closed us down considerably more. We had so much time today compared to other matches.

We made the most of that, it was great to watch and well done to everyone. But I don't think that solves the problem of sides that park the bus. If I was another teams manager watching todays match, I'd be more inclined to shut up shop than I would be before because Wolves showed exactly what this team will do to a side that doesn't.

That's a positive by the way. The fact that teams have enough respect for us to close us down and defend as strongly as they often do. But, unlike today, it limits us going forward and lets be honest, we aren't going to get every player

In the last couple of games ie wolves & Huddersfield (both wins of course) I think we have played a little more directly. Not so much side ways passing across the back four & more incisive forward passing into & through the midfield. This more so today. Other teams like Wigan & Millwall saw how we do this & pressed high up the field forcing mistakes & pressure. So maybe the more direct version of plan A is the way to go.

But the point is we don't lose or draw to every side who come and park the bus, we are and have been capable of grinding out an ugly win - away at Blackpool being just one example - IF we had such a problem we would hardly be top of the league now would we?

A bit of realism is needed, though maybe my eyes have deceived me, I've seen McClaren make subs at half time, on 50 mins, put on more attack minded players or shore up the midfield and switch between 4-2-4, 4-4-2, 4-4-3 and
4-2-3- 1 in games, plenty of evidence of plan B. C and D.

We wont win every game, the players won't click and play free flowing football, but lets also recogise we were missing Bryson, Grant, Ward and Bucko today and certain posters claim that McClaren hasn't changed the squad!!!!
