O/T Mathematics behind cashing bets in

Just had a £5 Yankee (which needs adding to the other thread) on Sheff Utd, Shrewsbury, Wimbledon and Rochdale.

Wimbledon came from behind and took the lead in the 81st min. At this point I had 3 teams winning and one losing. Because 2 teams were only winning by 1 goal I cashed out for a £30 profit.

Needless to say, Rochdale scored in the 85th and 94th min costing me £220 in the process.

Has anyone actually sat down and worked the maths on cashing out early?

If I had let it run and only got a double up it would have paid about £16. 3 winners would have paid £98. Four winners paid £305.

I have some really bad news. There is only one winner.

Something created to aid the online bookies. This is saving them millions.

It certainly wasn't created to give punters an edge that's for sure.

Like ale says, sit it out and don't even look at cash out option. You'll only be swayed to accept a lower amount than you're due.

I think that is okay when you have only staked low as the actual cost to you if the bet goes down is minimal.

On Saturday I staked £200 on Luton and cashed out costing myself £54. A late Tranmere equaliser would have cost me £376. That amount of money takes some winning back.

Just to add, at that moment in time I was staking £376 to win just £54. You wouldn't normally do that, would you?

Was it Shiregreen who recently had a winning £50 treble right up until the 85th min? I bet he wishes he had cashed out!

Obviously cashing out will prove to have been the right decision sometimes, and yes it would have been better for Shire if he could have cashed out. You cashing out early saved the bookie you punted with £54 add that to what you saved them last night oneaday and you're up to a few hundred. If the cash out option wasn't making the bookies a lot of money it wouldn't be available.

My mate had £100 on a golfer at 8/1 about a month ago, with 8 holes to play he was 4 shots clear. My mate bottled it and cashed out for £550. I thought he was nuts, he'd been happy to lose the ton in the first place, his golfer had done his bit and had about 6 birdies in the first 10 holes of the final round and was very unlikely to get caught. My mate saw the £550 available and felt he couldn't risk losing it and bottled it. Fact is a few years ago he wouldn't have had the option and would have dragged £900.

cash out i a disgrace. in the world cup i had £20 on argentina at 3/1 . after they reached the final against germany they offered me £33.60 ! now i know the germans were red hot favourites but whats the fu kin point of taking a 13.60 profit when my original bet was a 60 profit. ok yes they lost but imo you place a bet to the end not half way through. ya dont back an horse and halfway round cash out for a few quid cos 'its goin well' theres only 1 winner in this game as it is but cash out adds insult to injury...let it ride!!
