Its a combination of the two really. The adverts and the idiots that are driving this site downhill fast.

I don't disagree that the site needs to be monitised somehow but this isn't the way to do it, by annoying people with adverts and then effectively charging to get rid of the annoyance.

I wouldn't be happy paying either if I was an advertiser. I have clicked on the Tesco mobile advert about 5 times now by accident when trying to hit the little x in the corner. I already have a Tesco mobile contract. They are probably paying per click.
