Rob Statons comments on Dee Dar friday

Rob said he had been talking to a club insider and talked of a meeting last week involving TS RS PD and SE and he expected there to be more signings following Ledesma and hinted at a change of direction, hopefully more quality and a smaller squad

We could fetch Rooney in but he's not guaurented to start and we still won't score if Revell stays on the pitch

Tony Stewart and the board must see what we all can see. I can't believe he'd let things drift without intervention, especially now we've fallen into the bottom three. We must grasp the opportunity Saturday gives us to move back up the league. It wouldn't surprise me to see one or two more signings before then - and more departures.

Totally agree with having a smaller squad! Unfortunately we have signed quantity over quality. We have signed too many players. One example - we have 5 centre backs! We should have only have signed 1 in pre season with Rowe as extra back up. We didn't need both Wood and Broadfoot.

Players who can leave straight away:

    Broadfoot
Sadler (why did we waste money on this lad?)
    Hall
Newton (why have him if he's never going to play?)
    Tidser (as above)
Derbyshire (expensive flop, give the young lads a chance!)
Brindley (only if we bring in another right back to drop Richardson)
    Milsom
    Brandy (ridiculous signing)

Positions we need to add quality:

    1 centre mid
    1 right back
1 winger - ledesma might be the answer

A new striker is a debate. I'd certainly like to see Bowery and Clarke-Harris given a start together. We have spent a lot of money on these two, we have to give them a chance. They both have pace and power, enough quality to scare most defences. They are also saleable assets. We al

.I honestly believe that it would be touch and go who got the nod to start if we signed messi, bale or Ronaldo if revs was fit.

Broadfoot, Sadler, Newton, Tidser, Brandy, Taylor, Wordsworth and Richardson (I know he's a starter but I don't rate him) can all go for me. Bring in a right-back, right-winger and better competition at left-back.

A squad of 22 with 2 fighting for every position.

    Collin, Loach

    Brindley, NEW
    Arnason, Morgan, Wood, Rowe
    Skarz, NEW

    NEW, Hall
    Smallwood, Frecks, Green, Milsom
    Pringle, Ledesma

    Revell, Derbyshire
    Bowery, Clarke-Harris

    + Becchio when he's fit.

Look at what Ronnie brought in after going up; Swailes free, Daws free, Pollitt, then McIntosh and Mullin soon after.
Four of these five signings improved the squad and the fifth was a steady squad player.
