    21 signings - The Verdict!

Steve Evans has made 21 signings since May, adding to a squad that was arguably the best ever in the club's history.

Here's a verdict of success or failure on their stint with the Millers so far.

Do you agree with them all, are there any that you would change? - view external link

Evans just seems to be slinging as much mud at the walls as he can at the moment to see if any sticks. Positions that I think we lack cover and are weak in have been ignored and positions where we seem ok have been strengthened. I really don't see any strategy at all.
Having said that, Evans has done the same on a smaller scale over the past 2 years and it has been a success so perhaps its too early to make judgement. I can't help worrying about all the money that has been wasted though.

on your list you have Loach, Wood, Sadler, Newton, Hall and Swift.

Between them they number less than a dozen appearances in TOTAL.

Just how can they be judged on that?

As for Bowery being a failure and Clark_Harris being a success? Jury is out on both of them for me.

I think JV is trying to say the signing of the player was a failure rather than the player is a failure. Swift could have been outstanding but he wasn't given an opportuity, therefore a failed signing.

Spot on Tony, maybe I should have been more clear. I'll change the wordings.

The fact that Loach, for example, has played only two games and is currently on loan suggests that signing has not worked. There's nothing in this article to suggest that any of them are failed players, just their move to Rotherham has not worked out.

Our experienced players Richardson, Broadfoot, Green & Derbyshire. Green started season ok doesn't seem to have legs to me. None of them have convinced me. Derbyshire get rid in jan'

Agree with much of what Jonathan says with some exceptions.

Firstly, Richardson although he commands that regular full back slot isn't Championship standard, too slow and often a liability. For me his days are surely numbered.

On the flip side, I think Bowery will prove a real asset, he just needs a decent run in the first team. I also think that we should give Brandy a chance to show what he can do. Jonathan says he failed in League One last season? Not so, he did brilliantly for Walsall, firstly as their player then back on loan with them from Sheffield United. He ran the game at NYS and his pace was electric.

Everything else I pretty much agree with.

21 Signings is far too many in my opinion.

The signing of Loach as yet may not have been very successful for him personally but it's been a big success for the club.

Without doubt he's made Collin up his game and become a more able and consistent keeper.

With all these coming and goings of new players I worry that the team may not gel in time to stay in this division. We need consistency and hard fighting teamwork. i think we will drop out and back into League 1.
Rotherham have surprised me many times this season so I dream
