Arouna Kone On The Comeback Trail

    Kone Plays In U21s Game.

The long awaited return of Arouna Kone has finally happened with the 31-year-old pulling on an Everton shirt against Celtic.

Kone, who had made just five substitute appearances in the Premier League following a £6m move from Wigan, suffered a knee injury in October 2013 and hasn't featured for the first team since.

From that point on he quickly disappeared from the minds of most Evertonians, and has been written off by many as just a waste of a transfer fee.

To quote an over used cliche, his long awaited return to fitness will be like a new signing.

For now it's a case of taking small steps with a 45 minute appearance as one of three over age players for Evertons Under-21 squad.

The match which was in the International Premier League Cup, ended 1-1 with Courtney Duffus scoring for Everton.
