WILL A NEW MANAGER SAVE US FROM THE DROP ??

Ipersonally do not think a new manager will save us from a possible drop down to the championship, with current squad of players,we may be looking for a great houdini not a manager.

Why? Firstly we are sitting in 10th place - not a great place to be but certainly better than in 11th or 12th places. You are assuming that our relative performances will get worse between now and May.

What the new man can achieve depends very much on what is wrong with the squad. I still fail to understand why team finishing runners up a few months ago can deteriorate so badly. Ok there have been a few changes but I would still have expected us to finish in mid table. Our current squad aren't that bad. Something has clearly been wrong off the pitch and developments in the next week or two should hopefully address that, although there are certainly no guarantees.

He will have an almost impossible task with no resource to freshen up and remove the deadwood , which frankly accounts for more than 50% of the first team.

Afraid our squad is that bad. Our defensive record last year was utterly shocking but we had creativity that compensated to huge degree .. we no longer have that creativity. The midfield is utterly honking and none of our defence would get a game for anyone other than St Mirren.

would we give a manager a shortterm contract with a view to reviewing the position again in the summer, hence if we are relegated again it gives both parties the chance to decide if they can work together in the championship,or would would we need to again get someone else in cheaper or the guy take a reduction in salary to work in the championship.??

decent shout - it would be easy enough to produce a permanent contract with clauses for such things.

We need to focus on what will it take to get to mid table.

    Personal view would be

Bring in 2 decent midfield players, bring back Faddy in Jan and Clarkson come July. (having players who give a sh%T for the club has proven to work in the past )

Send back O"Brien in Jan, Send back Ojamma in Jan, put all players out on loan (who don't cut it) or let them walk for free.

    That's just a starter for 10

and how do we pay for McFadden in Clarkson in January when they are under contract??... its all well n good saying sign this one sign that one but what part of we have no money do you not get. Furthermore we could not compete with Dundee in wages plus the sh1te that would surround him if magically we came into money would see him have alot less to feed of than he does with Dundee making his an expensive gamble. You also seem to hav

We've missed the boat with both McFadden and Clarkson and while both would probably have been slightly better options than we currently have, I really don't think either would do a great deal more to improve this team. Faddy is finished as we saw last season, albeit McCall ruined him by trying to mould him into a rid midfielder last season and Clarkson, whilst his work effort is good is a player who requires support and service in order to score goals, neither of which we can provide in our current side.

That said mind you, why McCall thought it best to overlook both and sign Josh Law is a mystery.

Clarkson and McFadden are totally irrelevant, academic sideshows right now. What we need and quick is improvements to the midfield and to a lesser extent the defence. In these critical areas of the team the squad is unbalanced and incomplete.

A few of us have been banging on about midfield for a year or two now. In there we have little pace, little creativity and no defensive capability. This situation has been developing for a few years now but has reached the tipping point this season.
