Boyle gives the Society more time

The Express reports that JB held talks with the Society. The outcome is that the Society has more time to raise the cash. - view external link

You gotta give huge credit to Boyle who coulda taken his money and run and to a multi millionaire who will get virtually no return on their investment..

It would be better if Society members could be told at least some of this information by the organisation itself rather than have to read it in the Scotsman or Express.

Fair point never thought about that...im sure quite a few society members may be annoyed. Their PR isn't helping their cause.

As we know all too well, information about the proposed deal is very sketchy at best. However, from the Express story, it would appear that John Boyle still wants the best for MFC and is prepared to write off/plug a substantial amount debt to ensure that the Club, if the Society does take control, starts off debt free or virtually debt free.

    It's all very depressing.

JB certainly deserves credit - I just wish there was some way he could be persuaded to stay on the scene, even as the relatively silent partner he's been for the last couple of years.

No disagreement that the Society is hugely unconvincing presently but I'm reluctant to be overly critical when I'm not able to stand up and try to do better. These are guys and girls with jobs and families sinking their limited free time (not to mention money) into what they think is best for the club. It's easy to sit and snipe, it's much harder to actually do something to try to improve the situation.

Whether best for the club is actually good for the club depends on your view of the world of course...I don't disagree Society control means we're less likely to challenge at the top (though no one, as yet, has explained why under a Society regime other directors would suddenly lose interest in funding certain players a la McFadden, Anier and Ojaama) but no Society control make

Wouldn't disagree about that HD. The Society Board members are volunteers. For whatever reasons, members have been slow to actually roll up their sleeves and help out, even in the very early days. Maybe more understandable now.

If the Society does indeed take control of our club there's a lot of bridge building to do from the Society but members must also realise they have a role to play in moving the club forward.

If JB is prepared to allow more time, there must be a chance that some kind of deal is at least possible? John Boyle isn't daft; he must have heard something to persuade him to stretch a point.
Events haven't just overtaken us on the park; Aberdeen, Utd., Killie, County and Thistle have all managed to restructure their finances and debts - sometimes with the financial help of a benefactor, fair enough, but they've got the job done. There are people who are trying their damnedest to get the 'Well sorted out, and I make no criticism of them at all when I suggest that we now need a very urgent resolution of the ownership situation.

Arise Saint Boyle of the 'Shire ! Can't someone, somewhere, think of a cunning plan to keep him around?
Bottom line ... we'd have been fekkd long ago but for his 'patience'.
