Thought we got out of Jail today, what with Lonergans saves and their overall play.
Having said that before the game I would've settled for a Point, just the way we went about it, I wasn't happy with .

Knew it was all going to go wrong when I walked to the tram stop to find the Metrolink service was completely suspended due to the weather![]()

Poor game overall, dull as dishwater. Defence was good with Lonergan outstanding but don't know why Wheater played instead of Vela. Midfield was where we were lacking in my opinion with not one of them having a good game so the front men were totally isolated. That said Wilkinson was woeful with virtually every touch a bad one.
I don't agree with campo that we went out to defend - to me it was more that our midfield couldn't keep or control the ball so we were under pressure and HAD to defend. Ipswich weren't that good we were just poor.
As well as Vela not playing I didn't understand why Spearing came on for Clayton and we went 4-5-1. All I can think is that Lennon was worried that we would be overrun in midfield with them playing so badly.
Good to see Gudjohnson. As danm said he hasn't lost that touch of class.
Even though I

I don't know if Mason was injured or ill? But it was a strange decision not to have him even in the squad today. Mason would have been ideal to replace the injured Clayton imo.
It was just one of those games today, that I really wanted to end, I was ****ing freezing and the game was just total dire.
A point in the end was a very good result in the end.
You were freezing Gary due to the amount of ale you supped before the match.
I would have settled for a point before the match so I am quite happy. We could not settle down as we kept picking up injuries and having to change tactics and formations did not help.
The injuries are now getting are a little worrying.
The pleasing aspect is that we would have lost this match under Freedman before half time.
Most of the players seem to have eradicated most of their stupid mistakes ( apart from Jay Spearing who is just carrying on as normal ) and as a result we are looking a lot stronger at the back with midfield supporting them.
As Lennon said in a pre match comment, " if you cannot win, make sure you don't lose" .
Lonergan has had his critics, but he's definitely got that Jaaskelainen like ability to get us a point or three on his own.
Him aside, the only thing to get excited about today was Eidur.
I was gutted to see Spearing come on to replace Clayton, and he didn't prove me wrong.
All in all, I'm satisfied with the 0-0.
Lonergan has been fantastic this season and I'm not surprised to hear that Bogdan could well be on his way, providing a club comes in for him.
Spearing imo, isn't Lennon's cup of tea either and he isn't mine either.
I think Bogdan & Spearing will both be sold in January, providing we have takers for them.
I have to say after today that I agree with you there gary.
Lonergan's on fire so Bogdan could be used under the transfer embargo as we could get a decent player for 75% of his wages. Same with Spearing who just doesn't seem to fit with Lennon's style of play
Our last few games have been as dull as dishwater JJ there's not one player in our team that gets you on the edge of your seat we still need some big changes!
Wigan wasn't dull!!!
Forget going on about big changes. We have a transfer embargo to deal with![]()
I totally agree with you Campo for a change. Lennon out!Originally Posted by campo21
