Motherwell Football Club and the ‘Well Society can confirm that they have entered into a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Mr Les Hutchison.

If the transaction set out in the MOU is concluded, Mr Hutchison will provide the club with working capital finance, alongside the ongoing funding support provided by the Society, which has just provided another loan totalling £100k to the club

This finance will take the form of an interest free loan, repayable over a maximum period of five years.

During that time the Society Board have committed to growing both membership numbers and funds in order to demonstrate that the supporter base is fully behind the concept of fan ownership.

Once Mr Hutchison’s loan has been repaid in full, it is anticipated the Society will become the owners of the club. Mr Hutchison will effectively act as facilitator for the transition of ownership of the club to supporters, provided there is clear evidence that more of our fan base is willing to support the in

Excellent news. We will just have to hope it works out for us. I think the society is a better option for us over the argie bid. At least we have people who have the clubs interest at heart. Now lets hope we get a decent manager in now.

Delighted it's all been sorted hopefully the doubters will join now as this proves it is serious about owning club outright and not just a dream hopefully new manager announced in morning and even though would only be watching from stand may give the team the inspiration it requires as massive game. Finally would be good to see a few of the stay away fans turning up tomorrow as we need all the support we can get

Great news for all concerned and a massive well done to those who have managed to secure this deal. We now have five years to prove that the appetite for fan ownership is a goer. Now is the time for as many Well fans as possible that can join the society to actually join the society and those that can upgrade also do so. Time to end all the negativity surrounding our club and get on with making everthing Well again.
I know I tend to live in cloud cuckoo land alot of the time but we can do this.

Fantastic news! Large thanks to the leaders of the fans ownership programme, and clearly to Lord Les. Onwards and upwards hopefully. Cards on the table here ... I was sceptical anything would come of Project Society (although I'm a contributor?). I'm chewing a little bit of humble pie. And, just so it's noted, Ms Dempster is due recognition as well having been a major driver in previous days.

Yes and no...it's the first bit of good news in a while. People are entitled to be happy.

On the other hand, this still isn't a solution. It's time (60 months) to make the only potential solution we have viable.

I don't think anyone has ever doubted the Well Society is serious. Some myself included have doubts that we can sustain top flight football on the Society's original model for fan ownership. Whether that model has changed with our generous benefactor remains to be seen. If it hasn't I can't see any excitement on the horizon other than the fact the club is in secure hands. That itself will be enough for some.

However huge credit must be given to those who have worked extremely hard to achieve this goal. Its easy to stand on

So make my day and let's agree the all who have the club's best interests at heart should join the Society.
