    Uncle PHIL

Does anyone know if the club/fans are arranging anything for our next home game on the 27th against Partick to comemorate the passing of our legend ''UNCLE PHIL'' I know that there is usually a minutes applause, but does anyone else think like myself that it would befitting to do something really special and get the club and as many fans as possible to get involved

I don't know if anything is planned but if it were me I wouldn't be doing anything. It is not disrespectful. It's called getting on with life. Mourning and commemoration are nothing short of a national obsession these days in this country. For me it borders on distasteful. I know others will disagree. The club and the fans will never ever forget Phil O'Donnel and rightly so but the need for displays every year are not necessary. We should all remember him in our own way but I just don't think we need more collective displays of remembrance. Where does it stop? not just

I would be surprised if anything arranged as agree with showing respect on certain anniversaries like 5 yrs, 10 yrs etc but will be 7 yrs this year so would be surprised if anything arranged.

A delicate point made very well Stevie. Totally agree.

I think 10 minutes into the game, those who want to commemorate/celebrate will do so. That's what happened last year. I was at Firhill when people starting clapping, I only found out afterwards it was for Phil.

I was at Goodison recently when they were 'commemorating' or whatever 25 years since Hillsborough. That for me has definitely gone on far, far too long. I am certain however that they will still be recognising it in 225 years as the Liverpool people (rightly or wrongly) never forget. The Sun still doesn't sell there. As Stevie says, just move on.

With respect Davie, the Hillsborough scenario's a different kettle of fish entirely. Not only are they remembering 96 souls, but the anger and distaste shown towards the Sun (and incompetent / lying aythorities),is something that should never be slighted IMO.
