Big win for Motherwell in Paisley

That was a poor display and we needed a few breaks to get the win. One of our very few decent passing moves earned the goal and the league table looks a little better as a result. - view external link

It sounded dire stuff but my God that was a massive, massive three points for us today because had we drawn or lost that wed be right down there in the mire with both St.Mirren and Ross County, but by winning that gives us just that little cushion over both and hopefully that little confidence booster that we can overhaul both of them in the relegation fight. Make no mistake, had we lost today we would be firmly staring relegation in the face because St.Mirren are an awful side who've not won at home all season and if we'd lost against them then we would be firmly on a major downer, having lost to such a dire side as that.

that must be the most possession we've had for a while. Rule number 1, keep the ball.

Hopefully the gaffer can get more energy and belief into the team over the next few weeks. We all know the importance of the next few games.

It was obvious they had been told not to boot it long and consequently our possession stats improved. What baffles me is its not rocket science so why has it taken until game 17 for that change to happen. In saying that we were desperate in possession but its a start and it makes it harder for opponents to score.

I hope its all a confidence thing cos thats us played the two teams directly below us and frankly they have both played better than us. If St Mirren had retained 11 men today we could have been in serious bother. But we've just got to build on that result today.

Massive result today.Given time Im sure manager will get us to play more football on the deck and improve our overall fitness and league position.Would like to see him work with the forwards through time to see them make runs into space for the ball to be played into,as too many times today midfield and defenders had good possession but no opotions to play to.I understand that this all takes time and thats why I support manager bringing players in on Xmas day as it might be tactics he is working on rather than fitness itself

I wasn't at the game today, but on the way home one of the pundits on Clyde said we were very lucky to get all three points. Reading some of the posts from guys that were at the game said we tried to keep possession of the ball and try to pass it rather than punt it up the park. For me that's a step in the right direction though, and through time hopefully we can improve on keeping the ball.

Firstly I didn't manage to the game today but good to here we were try to keep the ball because last week was doing my heed in. Secondly I have been calling for Sutton to be dropped for weeks now so need to say a big well done to him for grabbing the winning goal today.
Brilliant and ***** result today, just unfortunate we managed to lose such a late goal last week because we would have been looking at a big gap between ourselves and the bottom 2. Next week is another chance though. Hopefully we can get at least a couple of players back from injury to increase compitition for place. Onward and upward

Frustrating as hell , the full backs wont do for a start although their nerves arent helped by a centre half who has been round the block twice and still allows the ball to bounce 30 yards out. McManus should really be taking charge in there as half the time when we are defending there are opponents standing unmarked, we wont get away with it every week.

Well done to Josh Law who is an easy scapegoat but made a fine run for the goal , he's good with the ball at his feet , wants to go forwards (a rare trait in this squad) and doesnt look to hide. Would love to see him come good maybe try him at right back ? Well in big Sutton as well. Just shows , if we dare to cross the half way line , even just now and again even and put the ball in there he'll do the rest.

Good to see the early subs too rather than waiting until O'Brien got sent off and the chances of seeing Ferguson making the run that Law did are zero so well done Baraclough. Must be a while since we finished up with Ojamaa , Ain

We got our share of the breaks, certainly, but I didn't think that we were lucky to win. They didn't work Dan any more than we worked their keeper. We did seem to have a plan today, though the execution often left much to be desired! And our goal was a good one.
Did a couple of our guys get ejected from the ground? We have some noisy, boisterous fans whose language is unparliamentary in the extreme. In truth, I'd rather they toned it down, but I can't see it as a red card offence, if indeed that's what they were put out for.
