    Thought-Provoking from Clarets Mad

Read an article this morning about the ins and outs in the Prem on transfer deadline day and noticed that nowt had happened up at Burnley so just had a gander on their board.

Really interesting piece from Claret Tony that is well worth a read.

Are Burnley being prudent, yet a little naive and ultimately lacking ambition, or cutting their cloth accordingly?

We've been there, done that, gone through transfer deadline day, signed some good 'uns, but also lined the pockets of some absolute fkin mercenaries

'Arry's chucked his toys out of the pram and left QPR after he couldn't spend his usual £100M, none of the other clubs at the bottom of the Prem seem to have made any "season-changing" signings, so have Burnley done the right thing?

Personally, I think that they have ****ed up, and Claret Tony has it nailed on. I love the fact that Dyche has endlesslyd the same team game after game (oh how Dougie could have learned a lesson from him!!!) but a lack of new players and injuries co

Very interesting post. I along with most other football fans thought Burnley would be dead certainties for relegation.

No one would appear to have told the Burnley management and players. I think they have done a great job. Their squad is not very large and they have not been decimated with injuries as yet. I would have thought that two or three good astute signings could stave off relegation and the riches that would come with another season in the Premier League.

They have been in dire straits in the past financially, and don't want to be in that position again ( they only need to look to the Macron ) . But who knows what those scum agents were up to. I've no doubt everything was taken into consideration. They will have tried their best to strengthen the squad.

I just hope they have made the right decision.

I notice their manager has not chucked his toys out of the window , unlike our "arry" down in sunny Sandbanks.

Brilliant Eric, now could you go and tell some of our fans that please?

It's not just down to being 'prudent' there's more to it why we didn't sign anyone yesterday, and that needs sorting out.

It was very disappointing yesterday as we should have brought at the very least one player in, even if it was a loan. Folk were trying their best though.

It's funny because now we are waiting for ex Bolton Matt Taylor to get fit to give us the options. It's a funny old game.

Let's see how quickly arry's knee's repair if a big club offered him a job tomorrow he'd be running about like Usain Bolt,i think Burnley should have made some signings but they will be happy to yo yo for a few seasons until they have enough money to go for it properly in the Premiership!

I could easily disagree with you there campo but I won't because that's what we did for a few years before establishing ourselves in the Prem

Burnley not sighning any players is a fcking disgrace. If it was Bolton in the same position fourth bottom of the prem, and a big chance of staying up and we didn't even make any loan sighnings I would go mental. This yo yo sh1t is a massive gamble,if that's what the board are thinking. How many have gone down then back straight up,only west brom comes to my mind.Teams that went back and stayed there I mean. The board imo have sh1t on dyche, and the fans, theyve let them down big time.Shame on them.

Im with Whatsmore on this one, Burnley should and could have done some business, they have a whole month to prepare and target a number of players which would suit Burnleys high tempo close um down type game. I think at the end of the day while being prudent you must also invest to accumulate while keeping an eye on the purse strings. I think the phrase is "happy medium"

By the way and I cant resist it, bring on the Manc's PNE PNE PNE !!!!!!!!

Risk analysis time for Burnley because it could be a problem either way.

Can a couple of players be the difference between survival and relegation? Perhaps but they would have to be phenomenal players - which means they would probably want fancy money - which would be a disaster if relegated.

So I imagine that Burnley took the view that if they could attract specific targets within a specific price range and/or with relegation clauses included they would buy - and I'm guessing those deals didn't materialise so they stuck with what they've got.

How much worse would it be if they had panicked?

    hhhhmmm

like most I had burnley down at Christmas ffs ! as much as it hurts , you got to say they have battled & clearly have heart & lads that seem to want to make a fist of it & probably picked up a few admirers along the way ...whatsmore pretty much nails it , they took a risk imo , but something i kinda get , stuck between a rock & hard place to some extent

the question clearly is yet to be answered , will they or wont they ...sticking my fat neck out , I would say they will go down ( hand on heart I wish em well )

I'm beginning to think that they may stay up.

They are picking up the odd point when nobody is at the bottom of the Prem and are out of the bottom 3.

Hull and Leicester look doomed to me. Both look awful and I think are certs to go down. I would have put money on QPR joining them with their away form but if Sherwood becomes manager I can see them possibly surviving. Taking a punt I'd go for West Brom and Burnley staying up
