    O'Brien's loan deal extended

He'll be with us for the rest of the season.

Baraclough is quoted on the official site...

“January is likely to be a busy month. We’ve got to move some players on and get a more fresh faces in. I expect my phone will be very busy indeed.”

Thats a pity... think I can already detect the retention of some utter dross across the board. However one diddy a disaster does not make, we will see what the ringing phone brings

That's a real pity. Thought he was useless y/day and actually wondered how he had become a pro?
There's got to be loads better out there on a free. What a waste of a wage.

By and large O'Brien boots or heads the ball very far in the direction he's facing, nothing more or less. And since he rarely faces our goal, he fulfils the main requirement of a centre half in a relegation battle.

Much like Twardzik, I think he's in the 'could easily be improved upon but not the main source of our problems' so I'll judge him signing on again as part of the completed January plan rather than a one-off.

And that boot it or head it long is one of the primary reasons we are constantly up against it and will remain in the relegation dogfight because we surrender possession as soon as we see the ball rather than actually think what we are doing.

In our circumstance anyone thinking extending loan a mistake an eejit.
He has played in loosing team void of any confidence who ALL punt the ball aimlessly forward.
Mad not to retain his services and it's McManus we should have jettisoned same time as McFadden

Anyone who spells losing as loosing is an eejit...

He was never going to punt McManus as hes contracted until June and yet we desperately need a decent CH and had the chance to let one go free up a wage and replace him and get a better player in but we resign him, aye its a mistake. Its not Bara's mistake but Black and McCall should have had plans in place to replace O'Brien cos hes been cack since he signed. Thats a big part of our problems for years , guys come in everyone and their granny can see they are cack and we ALWAYS offer them new contracts.

I hope the manager is a magician and has some terrific changes lined up for our midfield to save us cos the central def

Firstly sod off regards spelling .. I'm dyslexic and English not my 1st language.
I would disagree him being cack and appears we have a team full of cack players. Unless we have u21 replacement in our squad. Who do you have in mind ?
I'm having to accept Leitch and Carswell in mid-field … Who do you have in mind for central defence ?
I would also like to see a clear out of the dugout and allow Baraclough dictate procedures.

I'm not at all surprised by the extention of the O'brien loan. Of course it's hardly inspiring, but what can we honestly expect with the resources available.

I agree there are many many better players than O'brien out there but during this window, the majority of free agents carry baggage and seldom make immediate impact. Can we honestly afford to take that sort of risk when every week feels like the alamo?

That of course is the managers choice, and I hope he chooses well over the next couple of weeks as our clubs future and his career depend upon those choices.

Let's not forget where our real problems lie. We've scored less than any other scottish league club this season and our defence consistently are put (and put themselves) under unnecessary pressure because there is insufficient midfield support or attacking flair to prevent the 90 minute alamo mentality and to start carving out chances and goals.

The one loan signing renewal that I do want to see remains to be announced. L
