Gutless and faceless...Tested the waters allowing the potential 20 goal striker to train, knowing fully, the extent of his crime ...Then with the Ennis/Webster media reaction, and sponsorship problems, bottled it...Would have more respect if they'd come out from day one and said, Everyone deserves a second chance...then stuck by it..even now...At least Dave Whelan faces the music, and fronts up!

and now that plank of a chairman of there's has opened his mouth.
what a classless idiot he sounds.
proven that money is there only motivation and he has no time for morals.
surely anyone could have told him after backing down to sponsor pressure the thing to do was either apologise or keep quiet.
family club? not with idiots like him at the helm.
looking at it strictly from a WEDNESDAY perspective, they couldn't make a bigger mess of it if they tried.

They bullsh*tted their way around a weak-as-p*ss PFA recommendation to allow him back...relied on the knuckle-draggers to champion the 'hero'...feigned surprise at the scale of public reaction...then said we won't have the rapist back because...what was the reason?

Disgraceful as the club is, most loathsome of all are fans who saw no issues...super Ched...ffs

    PR disaster.

Never in my life did I think people would praise and support a convicted rapist.

It seems like people idolise footballers so much that their views are blinded by the eagerness for success, by thinking Ched would return and score 20+ goals and get them promoted.

In what other line of work would a convicted rapist have the support of thousands?

The club obviously didn't expect such a backlash from sponsors and high profiled supporters. It sickens me that they gauged the reaction before coming to the correct decision.

However, if a club takes a gamble on him and he shows the same form he did before going to prison, I'll be just as outraged as any united fan would be.

Dry your eyes you point scoring maudlin spinsters ... and at least try and hide your disappointment he wasn't offered a contract. I've never read so much faux outrage.

Shouldn't rov have other things to be ' outraged ' about anyways.

    re: the pork back down

Gotta laugh when you lot get on your high horse.

You contributed to the death of 96 fans!! Yes Sheffield Wednesday and Sheffield city council, your own safety officer told the board leppings lane end needed to double the amount of turnstiles and rebuild the wall and replace the fences and barriers at a cost of £250,000 and you decided to buy a player and refused the upgrade even though YOUR club knew the stand was not fit for purpose.
then in your application to the FA you lied about the safety certificate with backing from the city council.
You had already had close scare a few earlier with your inept facilities but again refused to spend money on upgrades needed, and still lying about a safety certificate.

Well we all know what happened and a number of things went wrong and your unfit stand contributed to the death of 96 innocent football fans.

Then the first hillsborough enquiry you and the council again coincidently never put forward the safety certificate, it took another in

Before you all start crying and making up every excuse you can think of, remember you never had a valid certificate at the time of the disaster FACT
Had you told the FA then the game would have been moved to another ground FACT
You started the snowball that led to the death of 96 people FACT
