    Northam Bridge

It looks as though SW trains are doing track repairs this coming weekend involving bus shuttles so I will drive down to the match. My preferred route is over the bridge but I seem to recall warnings of severe traffic delays due to structural repairs. Can anybody throw any light on this please. I may have to revert back to an old parking spot and hike down through the town.

Both carriageways across the bridge are down to one lane. At busy times, local radio has been reporting the traffic as pretty hideous.

The station might not be a bad bet as an alternative place to park up - the one you dropped us off at a few weeks back.

If we know you're coming in, we can meet you in that pub - maybe a 20 minute walk to the usual watering hole from there.

Cheers Papa. That sounds like a plan. Is it free parking there, or do you have to arrive early, pay a £5 or whatever. Anyway, what time do you reckon you will get there. After I finish parkrun my time is free so I could get there pretty much any time.
Alternatively I could burst through the finishing tape in Woking and just keep running south.

As far as I know, it's all free parking around there - plus you'll probably get away quicker, even allowing for the 20/25 minute walk back from the ground / usual hostelry.

I'll send you a text later this evening about times and others that might be joining us.

Used to cycle to school over the old Northam Bridge, sometimes waiting for a train to cross the road. Just before the bridge was the Plaza Cinema with its double seats in the back row, not that they were of interest to me at that age!

From our classrooms we could hear the piledrivers working on the new bridge.

Useful to know. Thanks. I'll park on a Northbound route back out.

Somewhere I have a photo of me and some mates playing football on Northam bridge when it was closed completely to traffic.
