I may have missed it elsewhere on the forum but is Doyle about to sign for the Rapids?

I think he would do very well in MLS. Physical league that really values hard work. Ability to hold ball and run all day will be very useful.
Best of luck to him, got squeezed out for no other reason than his wages IMO. Always seemed to keep his head down, mouth shut and show up to work every day.
My understanding is that depending on how contract negotiations go, he could end up as a 'discovery' signing rather than a designated player.
Has he still got the legs? After his knee injury he's not done much since 2011...

Agreed.
I was excited when we got him after shining at Reading.
Never really scored enough but his work ethic and unselfishnes could never be questioned.
Doyle's was never mentioned in the same terms as Hollywood, The Alcoholic or Mick's love child even though he was also on a good whack.
Again, good luck Doyler.
Is he thirty yet?
In 2009, when he came to Wolves, there was high expectation that in K.D. we had acquired a striker with proven ability to score goals. Unfortunately for Kev', whilst wearing gold and black, goals were hard to come by although few would dispute his excellent work-rate. As a player he rarely gave less than his best and never stopped running. In possession he shielded the ball well and, quite often, seemed happy to create a scoring opportunity for someone else rather than make a more determined effort to score himself. Perhaps successful strikers have need of a little selfishness now and again, if so, that might account for Kevin's dismal goal tally (last season, in 23 League One appearances, K.D.scored just 3 goals).
There may be some who still identify him with the 'Rat Pack' who infested the team a couple of years ago, however, I prefer to think his 'fall from grace' was a result of injuries and indifferent form rather than anything else. Perhaps the club hierarchy percieved him

I have a lot of time for Doyle, a very honest 100% player. But I can't help getting the feeling that his career was seriously damaged by joining Wolves. It coincided with the Club's worst f *ck up since they nearly went out of business in the '80s. He could (and maybe should) have stamped his foot and demanded a transfer when they were relegated from The Prem, but, as we know, he is not that kind of guy. It hurts me to say it, but I think Kevin would have achieved more as a footballer if he had not come to us.
Agreed PKB. We hardly ever played him as a proper striker anyway - I am surprised he didn't bogoff years ago. Wolves may have paid him relatively well, but used him very badly! :/Originally Posted by peterknowlesburnside
