    Rotherham the Star ...

    the local newspaper.

I have had a look at some of the comments and of course ,the Rotherham fans are blameing the lions for all the trouble.

I have followed the lions for 40 yrs and only know to well the history however I will defend my club.

The overall picture as usual is it takes "two to tango" and the mindless elements will get involded.

With and I give respect to the Rotherham fan who is disabled and had his winderscreen smashed, has said he was caught in the middle of mayhem of millwall and Rotherham fans and it could have been either of them.

Another Rotherham fan stated that a mindless part of the home end was prvokeing and slinging items at the wall fans hence a reaction, however the main mob of Wall fans stood and behaved themselves.

two honest fans out of the many who state Wall was solely out for trouble...2 to tango among the mindless

Were you there Lion1? As an older fan with no axe to grind, I would have to ask if there was an agenda for some of your fans on Saturday? Why for instance were there almost no club shirts, scarves etc worn by the majority of your fans? I understand that some would not want to call attention to themselves, but the lack of colours was most noticeable, and caused some comment before the game began.

I'd like to say that the majority of your fans did not get involved in any of the fracas, but the ones that did, were the ones responsible for the trouble. It was almost as if their frustrations boiled over when you went behind late on, and yes, no doubt some of the younger fans of ours were giving you some banter. However, that did not give your troublemakers a green light to let loose. Most of the action has not been televised, cameras will not have been available, except for those in the stadium, but I can tell you that I saw some mindless idiocy from a number of your fans outside the groun

Lion1, Unifier has stole my thunder on this one; I have being going for 50 years next season and I have well over a 1000 games under my belt.

What went on straight after the game was outrageous and bang out of order, the sheer anger and hatred towards anyone who got in the way was totally out of order, I spent five minutes with the female steward after she was hit smack in the face with a missile making sure she was OK before the medics arrived. During this time large numbers of your travelling support attempted to come over the fence onto the home gangway. The etiquette your firms of the 60's 70's and 80's lived off about only engaging with like minded souls was well out of the window, which is a surprise because the majority of the travelling support appeared to be my age and in many cases much older.

I have read one explanation for the support being six times the size of what travelled to Elland road being that you don't like your photos taking, well unfortunately in modern sport

Millwall fans don't wear club shirts and colours to any game, you might see the kids wearing replica shirts and scarves but men in thier 30s and 40s look a bit silly wearing them over their beer bellys. as for the trouble at the game you can see in a lot of the videos rotherham fans gesturing to millwall fans and giving the come on then, they got the reaction they were asking for I am afraid and all this rubbish about women and kids being attacked is load of nonsense. pull the lions tail expect to be bitten.

Ah, another armchair supporter, Lionsroar. You were obviously not there and are relying entirely on some video footage which you feel gave your supporters the right to attack. The fact that they had already started before the actions captured on video seems to have escaped your consideration. I repeat, the troublemakers in your fans started this. I am not condoning anything that exacerbated the situation from our fans, but take your blinkers off, and accept that this kind of trouble has no place on the football terraces.

I don't get to as many games as I used to but I am certainly not a armchair football fan. The ones I do go to a lot of opposition fans act the hardmen from the safety of another stand and gesture and sing silly songs like your not scary anymore. when these fans get a reaction they tend to go quiet until they get home then they are on their computers crying on messageboards like this one.

So it's OK for you lot to chant about us all being *****philes and Jimmy Saville being one of us (he was a Leeds lad, but we aren't allowed to chant anything back in case it upsets your more delicate ears? Sorry Lionsroar, but you're defending the indefensible. We're all human beings when all said and done. We're there to watch a game of football, not try and prove how hard we are. As said in an earlier post, I hope the police are able to review their video evidence and prosecute the fans responsible for the violence, be they Millwall or Rotherham United supporters. My expectations are that the much greater number will be your supporters, unfortunately. That said, I once again offer my sympathies to the genuine Millwall supporters who have been saddled with another round of abuse for what happened. I have read some of the posts on here, and think some of the comments from our supporters are over the top, but I also understand the anger that lies behind them.
    Sincerely hope that this wi

I haven't seen many replica shirts on travelling Wall to Swindon for many years

Personally I thought it was to avoid the idiots who come out in numbers because it's Millwall or Leeds

Last time Wall came to ours I chatted to a few in an away friendly pub. The shirts worn were of sentimental value and not the normal replica shirts.

One of these guys was about 7 foot tall (prob 6'6" in reality)

We have had some important clashes recently and no Millwall in Swindon were looking for trouble. But the locals coming out in their hoards were

If no home fans felt the need to goad or hang about after the game then surely there would have been no trouble

Is this a coincidence in the link when Wolves went to Rotherham? No probably not - view external link

Violence should not be acceptable in any walk of life but it happens pretty much everywhere, I am sure there were numoures incidents at clubs and pubs around the country on saturday night that were far worse then anything that happened at rotherham yet that is never a news story as much as some millwall fans breaking though some netting.from what I can see in the videos there wasn't much violence anyway just a lot of pushing and shoving with the police and stewards, certainly not enough for the reaction of you fans coming on this board screaming blue murder. anyone would have thought something like the heysel stadium tragedy had happened at your ground the way a lot of your fans have overeacted.

Yep, men in their 30s and 40s and even 50s shouldn't wear replica shirts showing their beer bellies as I agree, is totally silly.

At what age does standing in the middle of a stand singing slightly camp songs with other fat bald middle aged men become uncool also?...just for future reference.
