All fantastic news, signing up these lads, on the right track. SUPER WELL
Good news and it looks like the business plan of Les Hutchinson (and his additional funding) are allowing us to sign good young players like Watt and Thomas on decent length contracts. For too long, two years seemed to be the policy/maximum financially and the result was guys leaving for free or for reduced fees in the January window.
These longer contracts give time for these young lads to develop and, if they do turn out to be top players and valuable assets, we still have decent length of contract with them, which will see purchasers have to pay the proper market rate.
Longer contracts were always possible given that the salaries of young players aren't exactly onerous and to make it attractive to them the inclusion of a clause to give them an out to go to a bigger club, if interest is shown, isn't rocket science.Originally Posted by Gowboy
