    Best League in the world.

Watching Soccer AM this morning and it was said that Bournemouth, because of their (deserved) promotion, are now a richer club than Benfica.
Yep, multi national champions, European Cup winners, once club to an average player called Eusebio. You know, THAT Benfica.

Bournemouth are yet to kick a Premier League football in anger yet they are above one of Europe's finest and mightiest on the football rich list.

Best league in the world for all the wrong reasons, obviously.

Good luck Bournemouth but doesn't it make you just a little sick?

Yup but nobody gives a flying...The only way Bournemouth were gonna get into the premier league was if a Russian Oligarch bank rolled em ...Well F00k me!!

Money is not what makes a club rich, it is the supporters, passion, history, tradition and mystique that makes a club rich! That is why I follow Wolves!!!

Pretty much my feelings there, Tundra. Money certainly couldn't buy Manchester City success this season, but there was a time when their fans would have been happy with that sort of failure!

The money (and particularly the TV revenue) that goes with the Prem is nuts, especially in comparison with some other European leagues. I do expect the bubble to burst -when , who knows.

And I'd also differentiate- for me richest doesn't necessarily equate best.

Sky Sports and the likes of BT have a product to sell and try and make people believe it is the best. All the top leagues in Europe can be judged on it's own merit. There's so much money in the premier league and the players are paid massive wages, it doesn't always bring success.

We'll keep picking up the obscene wage bills, Spain, Germany and Italy will keep picking up the trophies.

Precisely. The only way to 'compare' the relative strength of the leagues is in European competition, and we struggle to the point where we're in danger of losing that fourth Champions League slot to Italy.

There's a lot of rubbish spouted about foreign league, for example Italy is defensive and boring. Yet this season Serie A has averaged 2.61 goals per game to the mighty Prem's 2.55.

    Money isn't everything
