    Cars disappearing from our roads

    Quite interesting... stl

My first car was a Viva, not exactly a boy racer. It had black plastic-like seats that you just couldn't sit on if it had been in direct sunlight!
From that list also had a Capri, Orion (lovely car), Maestro, & Montego, the MG EFi version. My mate had a Datsun Cherry when we lived in Pompey, ugly little spud but it did the business. - view external link

One maker Scoular. Datsun came under the Nissan umbrella. Basically IIRC Nissan decided to scrap the Datsun & market them under the Nissan. Same car, same makers. Just a change.
I remember being told this when I worked for Volvo in fareham as again from memory with the change came the closure of some of its dealerships. The one in Lee went around 87 I think.

A dark green A35 was my first, later on I had in no particular order a Mini, 1100, Renault 12 and 17 plus a Datsun Cherry in Cyprus. The A35 has for me the best memories from all of them, I always think of her when I see an a30 or 35 chugging along now.

I remember the 1100,no friggin heater as I recall and had to warm hands on the ciggy lighter.Still got the scar to this day.
Re the cherry,I am sure the logo on the back said Datsun Nissan Cherry.I agree about the consolidation though.

Nice trip down memory lane SD.

My old fella was a car dealer back in the day so in reckon I've been in about three quarters of them.

He's right about those bloody Hyundai Stellars though, every cabbie seems to have one!

I have a 1961 Rover P4 80 that I have finally resolved the ongoing fuel starvation issue and is on the road again, there are only 164 left according to the website see link below. If you type in your car it will tell you how of that model are left - view external link

    Great find SD.
I bought a lovely mustard colored T reg Allegro Estate from a friend for £30. It got me up and back from the Lakes 4 times and I kept it for 3 years. Went to go to work early one morning to find that it had been broken into and they nicked the trendy leather steering wheel cover, that's it. They even left my prized Genesis and Yes tapes.
