    Ibrox

I think the first goal at Ibrox could be the most important goal of the tie. If we can get our noses in front, a massive if I know, we could silence the hoards and give them something to think about. Make no bones about it, Ibrox will be full and noisy. The thing is our players will probably freeze with fright as is usually the case there. We need guys like Hammell, Lasley, Mcdonald and dare I say it McManus to stand up and be counted in games like this where experience will be *****. As we saw in the games with Hibs, Rangers are no great shakes but now look capable of grinding a result out. That is why it is ***** in my opinion we have to score first.

It is absolutely crucial that we score the first goal and the earlier the better I reckon. If you think back 18 years to our last Ibrox victory(Owen Coyle day), we went into that game infront of a packed, expectant home crowd and we didn't give them a sniff for the first seven minutes and by that time we were 1-0 up and the rest, as they say, is history. We have to silence them as early as possible and get them rattled, otherwise we won't have a hope in hell.

Our more recent Ibrox visits have seen us start very poorly, and we often lose at least one goal in the early stages, and although we didn't concede early in our last visit there in 2012, we looked like rabbits caught in the headlights from the first whistle. That simply cannot happen on Thursday night otherwise this tie will be done and dusted by the 1st leg.

Sadly, I see nothing in that team and manager that suggests we will have the character and bottle to go to Ibrox and get the right result and I expect another bend over j

Agreed, you would normally expect the senior pros to stand up and be counted. However, players like Hammell and Lasley have usually frozen in the past. Maybe lads like Pearson, McManus and MacDonald will lead the way.

I'm a wee bit worried that IB is talking about keeping it tight at Ibrox. Now if that means not being cavalier and being tight at the back then I'm all for that, but if its coded language for parking the bus then thats exactly how to lose there. We have to have a go at them.

Depends what he means by keeping it tight. I think just about everyone agrees we can't afford to play an open 4-4-2 so if he's aiming to play 4-5-1 and bog the game down in midfield, fine...if he's aiming to camp on the edge of our box and defend, we're in bother.

It is interesting playing a two-legged tie with no away goals though. If we're 1-0 down it's crucial we don't give the tie away by chasing an equalizer and conceding on the break, we have 90 minutes at home to make up the difference when 2-1 doesn't hurt us.

Why would Mcmanus stand up to be counted now hes one of he primary reasons we are in this tie. Rangers are p1sh but the huge difference both they and Celtic have is complete winners mentality its ingrained into them. Sure doesnt always work but they go into every game expecting to win

there is nothing "usual" about these two games.

we have not played at ipox for 3 years ...yep the team had probably its 3rd worse game of that season in that game...worse was either ross county away or celtic the week before.

how many of our players will have ever played either rangers or at ibrox? who was the tactical genius ( sorry i cant keep up but when he was our manager he was thought of as terrible at big games, cup games or tactically or does that no longer count cos he is not with us now so has suddenly transformed into a genius????) that set up our players for that game?

yes over the years we dont have a great record against rangers, or celtic away...but all of us can remember great days and great wins ...my fav was stopping them getting nine in a row with a 0-2 masterclass where they could not get out their own half for the first 30 mins

Sorry, the 0-2 masterclass in question certainly didn't stop them getting nine
