    Buy This Book!

In some ways this post is related to the 'Biggest Myth" post by Plater.

    The subtitle says it all.

"The Essential Guide to the Stars, Stats and Stories of the GREATEST TEAMS IN THE WORLD."

Good book, easy read, little micro bio's of all the big clubs in soccer history.

And who is the last entry, based alphabetically?

    Wolverhampton Wanderers of course. :-)

I searched for other West Midland clubs but only found the Villa.

    Quel surprise, non?

    re: Buy This Book!

It is in the Vancouver Public Library and I will see if I can get my hands on it...it is only a street from my school and I can easily pick it up at lunch!

    Thanks for the suggestion!

    re: Buy This Book!

Quality read, experienced it last summer. Very interesting to read about some lesser known big clubs in South America, Africa and Asia. Of course you get the giants in there, but football is a world sport and I think the book does a decent job of exposing you briefly to clubs you won't read about in the paper.

Another good book is Soccer Men by Simon Kuper (Soccernomics). A collection of profiles he's done over the years on players, managers, and executives.

Next book I'm reading when I get back from Ecuador is is The Match of Our Lives by David Goldblatt. I think I have the title correct. About football and England since the formation of the Premier League (and I imagine it will be pretty critical of both if I know anything about Goldblatt).
