O/T We Kane, We Shaw, We Crawford

Chicago Blackhawks won the Stanley Cup tonight in Game 6 of the series against the Tampa Bay Lightning.

It was an exciting series against a very tough Tampa Bay team. Tampa Bay were aggressive and could stage a ferocious assault on the opposing net, but in the end the experience of the Hawks told.

I'm not a hockey fan particularly, but it's nice to see any Chicago team win big. This is their third NHL title in five seasons.

There's a local sporting goods store called Dick's that stays open late to sell the first championship t-shirts when a Chicago team wins a title. It's a mile away, so my wife and I went out to grab pair of shirts and see the crowds. There were a couple of hundred already when we arrived, many more than that by the time we left.

Well done, Chicago, 3rd Stanley Cup in six seasons:

2015 - Chicago Blackhawks def. Tampa Bay Lightening, 4-2.

2014 — Los Angeles Kings def. New York Rangers, 4-1

2013 — Chicago Blackhawks def. Boston Bruins, 4-2

2012 — Los Angeles Kings def. New Jersey Devils, 4-2

2011 — Boston Bruins def. Vancouver Canucks, 4-3

2010 — Chicago Blackhawks def. Philadelphia Flyers, 4-2

BTW, Robus, when did they downgrade their from "Black Hawks" to "Blackhawks"? Did someone else have a copy write on that...like the ancestral tribe?

That's a good question, Tundra. It's been Blackhawks for as long as I've been paying attention, which admittedly isn't very long.

For those who might not know, Black Hawk was a leader of the Sauk tribe who lived in Illinois and adjoining states before the area was fully settled by Europeans. In the early 1830s, he was drawn into a brief war with the United States over what seems to have been a misunderstanding. The "Black Hawk War" ended with his defeat at the Battle of Bad Axe in Wisconsin. Black Hawk was captured and eventually released.

One of the volunteers fighting against Black Hawk and his band was Abraham Lincoln, his only military experience. - view external link

I wonder how long it was before someone on that T shirt printing run had the nuts to go, 'Ok run em with the Stanley Cup Champions logo 2015' S4it or bust!

I always wonder that too Eve, and what happens to the t-shirts if the unexpected outcome occurs.

Somewhere in Africa, kids are getting Care packages with t-shirts that read: Tampa Bay Lightening: 2015 Stanley Cup Champions!
