Wouldnt be my choice I said when folk were in hysteria when he was scoring with Dundee that it was a flash in the pan and didnt particularly fancy him then and hes certainly not got better since then. However hes here now so I wish him well and if he captures his last season form with us it would be an advantage but have huge reservations about this one.

I am getting worried to say the least. If this is rebuilding it won't work Rangers went that way with Miller and Boyd act. The 'Motherwell Legends' is not the way forward I like the option of a balanced team approach in age and skill
, this seems more like trying to rekindle past glories rather than a positive way forward plan. Not at all what I hoped for, time will tell.

I'm not worried as sure he's been signed as a squad player as number 9 jersey still free and he can certainly do a job for us but keys not crucify him before he has kicked a ball

I actually thought we'd signed Jeremy ! To be fair, his ball control is slightly better than the nephew of Phil's is.

Same week Thistle reveal Kingsley we reveal Clarkson ... both are a nightmare

Far from convinced...that said, there are some guys who just 'belong' to some clubs and for obvious reasons Clarkie is one of ours. So I really hope it works out for him and if it doesn't, that the fans don't turn on him.

But essentially in his whole career he has had only a few good seasons and whenever a slump hits, caused by injury, a bad miss or a simple loss of form, it takes him months to get over it. Throw in his injury history and it's far from certain to work out.

However, we do have a very good record of getting good service from our returnees...and on the basis that he'll be cheap and is signed as cover rather than a first choice, perhaps it's not so bad. With only Moore confirmed on the books, we needed to sign three more forwards - and no one, from the harshest critic of players to the most unfeasible optimist, can realistically have expected to be thrilled with all three because we could never afford to pay enough to secure a decent fourth choice striker.

He looked a stronger player than when he left us when I saw him play against us last season. Better at holding ball and linking with others - six seasons down south and a few more years on the birthday cards would account for that. David Clarkson always gave 100% and he will certainly be one to ‘play for the jersey’, no bad thing.
He’s never been a prolific scorer, averaging a goal every 4 - 5 games, so not in the same league as John Sutton (av. 3 games per goal). Clarky played well in the front three of Porter, Clarkson and McCormack which was a pretty mobile unit under Mark McGhee (they ripped Hibs apart at Easter Road in the League Cup - a great game, winning 4 -2) so I hope he can fit in with the way IB seems to prefer to play, breaking with pace. I am hopeful that he will be a good guy to have in the first team squad, although we do need someone who is going to be a consistent goal scorer (and several other players as well).
