Florence & the Machine? Just shove an owl in a wind tunnel, same thing.

Not been to Glasto since '99 as you have to pay to get in nowadays. I went 5 times in the 90's & never paid! Over the fence, under the fence, one year pretty much through the fence, piece of piss. One year we also successfully bunked the trains there & back too (SD ). Happy days.

I wouldn't like it now. I bet the art/craft and street-food stalls are now replaced by beard-oil boutiques and overpriced craft ales.

Back in the day the target market was the alternative scene in general & was a great mix of hippies, rockers, punks, indie-kids & grungers where as nowadays it's aimed at marketing execs from Battersea. Wouldn't enjoy it.

Although in complete contradiction, I really hope my friends Maid Of Ace absolutely smash the BBC Introducing stage today at 1:30. Those girls are good and really deserve it. - view external link

I saw the track they put on the red button...which was rubbish. Three chords and a lot of shouting. There was hardly anyone watching either...a lot of wandering about at the back!!

Although better than Kanye's karaoke in a microwave. I seriously have no idea why so many people were watching him, that is not a Glastonbury crowd. There were so many acts who would sit rather too comfortably on Heart Radio too.

Highlights for me, Suede, Alt-J, Father John Misty, Everything Everything, Maccabees, Libertines and Hot Chip. - view external link

She certainly won the running championship, but if you asked me to hum a single one of her tunes afterwards, I couldn't. Were there any, apart from the one Foo Fighters song she covered?

Their sound was abominable, the bloke behind the desk needed a slap! Their sound relies heavily on the interplay between the 2 guitars but I could only hear one clearly and the other a muffle. And to be fair, it was not a punk festival and they were on at 1:30 in the afternoon so there was never going to be a moshpit for them!

Oh yeah, and "3 chords & shouting" is the bedrock of alot of punk btw, just so's ya know.

Fair point about the sound. I heard a Hot Chip track on 6 Music this morning that sounded fantastic. Then watched it again online and

Couldn't tell you. I paid no attention to this years annual hipster & marketing exec getaway other than Maid Of Ace's set, purely because I know them.

Right from the first verse I was fuming with the soundman! But then that's the problem with having been playing music for well over 2 decades, you get really anal about stuff like that. My better half can just listen to a piece of music whereas I'll analyse everything from the tempo, chord progression, sound levels, whether it's a single-coil or a humbucker being used on the guitar, etc.

Haven't been since '97 and also have never paid.

Have also managed to get a whole sound system in there on numerous occasions with it running 24/7

used to be 1st stop Stonehenge then onto Pilton then in!

    Played there
