Liam McAlinden Joins Shrewsbury On Loan

He's gone back to a club that he knows well. As with the article it will give him more chance of getting games under his belt. - view external link

He'd probably be better off signing for them full time. Like the kid but just not quite good enough for us IMO.

Wolves probably don't want a Sam Vokes type situation where the player goes on to have a big impact as he did with Burnley. I think with type of forward Wolves have on their books and ones they are linked to, McAlinden's chances are limited. It's not to say Wolves will give up on him though.

Just two points here Gav. For one, Vokes already had a decent goalscoring record with Bournemouth before we signed him, albeit at a lower level, and two, I saw more from Vokes in the first few games he played for Wolves than I have with McAlinden. I'm with Eve on this and think we should have sold him to Shrewsbury.

Unfortunately, he's currently our fourth choice at forward right now as we've got Afobe and Dicko starting, and I imagine VLP would be the third. So if someone gets injured, McAlinden will be recalled promptly. Hope to get a new forward soon and our options beyond Afobe and Dicko really expose how fragile our season is if we don't bring in someone else.

I knew of his scoring exploits with Bournemouth. I should have said the impact Vokes had in Burnley's promotion season. Injuries haven't helped him, but he did make it back in the second half of last season.

You both could be right when saying that he could be sold on.
