It strikes me that anyone who refuses to acknowledge the flag or wear a poppy is considered disrespectful scum, but anybody who wants to show massive disrespect the other way is hailed as a hero.

This mindset makes those people JUST AS BAD as "them".

In reacting, Kirk has been given this ban and McClean has had the last laugh and "won".

That said, unless Kirk has previous warnings we don't know about, that sectarianism (a human invention) carries a heavier punishment than racism (something you're born with) is ridiculous, compared with Suarez punishment.

Not sure, by any definition, this is well done. After all, he's missing for two months of the season and it's quite likely he'll struggle to get into the team when he's available. Plus, he's probably got some fairly serious nutcases interested in him.

That said, it seems a hell of ban for losing your rag in a tense game. I mean you go to some crappy places when you lose your rag, and sectarian abuse is definitely crappy. You might argue that a player who's deliberately made himself a totem for a particular sectarian standpoint - to the extent of making ostentatious shows of his political position with the stated intention of being divisive and causing offence - might have a sort of lightning rod effect for that sort of abuse, but that doesn't excuse anything: losing your head and vomiting up something from the darker part of your characted is definitely bad, even if you were on the receiving end of an elbow to the nose and then, in the next challenge, concede a free kick for a prett

Know full well I'll get slated for this but imagine your playing in Germany and the swash sticker is hoisted or in Syria the is flag is raised would you face the flag. His principles won't allow him to do it if you have never lived through occupation of your homeland you will always be one sided views of others actions.
