    The squad so far

so opinions are like a mouth every one has one.

i think so far he has done well got some proven championship players in although some with come possible injury issues.

So my point is with all the free signings surely we have the cash to splash one that one special player.

obviously tavernier was a target but wages again could have been the stumbling block with Steve making the comment about the wages.and player should come because they want to play for us. True but we are in the championship and to be mid table in my opinion we need that star player. and that means paying that extra

this may be the second player he is after

    thoughts please

Squad looks like it can improve on last season. If we plash £500,000 + wages are going have to be £10,000 a week.

Not sure about this but next season new sky/bt deal are parachute payments spread about more. Keep in this league for 2 more seasons, get ground expanded, plans outside of the ground completed, younger fans coming to a new modern ground instead of Sheffield's outdated grounds. Then we'll be able to compete more on the wages.

Squad looks to have cover. Think Grant Ward & Danny Ward will mean we won't rely on especially Hunt to get forward. Not all the signings will work out, never do, Steve will sort it, always as.

My main worry is the full back positions. Mattock and Buxton seem like they won't be able to play half of the games this season due to injury and I don't think Aidy White is a good enough left back. Richardson isn't up to championship football either

Have you seen White play there, I haven't will see in 2 friendly's. Mattock isn't out for that long. There must be a reason we didn't get Hunt & Lafferty. Hunt think Sheff W will be paying more towards his wages.

Right back just feel we could have done with a younger fitter player in than Buxton. Full backs now need to be able to get up & down the flanks.

I'm happier with the quality of the squad 'on paper' when compared to this time last season, however there is a small part of me wondering if many of the players we have were simply unwanted by the clubs that have aspirations. I know that we're never going to be one of the clubs who throw around cash we haven't got buying players that are in demand, but I just have this fear that we are going down a similar route to last season.

Squad definitely looks better than this time last year with much more Championship experience. I still think we need that striker capable of scoring twenty goals plus.

Before anyone else mentions it, yes I know how expensive and hard to come by players who can score at that rate are. Defence looks better and we shouldn't concede as many goals, but, up front, scoring might prove problematical again. Reckon we will see a lot more goalless draws and low scoring games.
