Stadiums where home support makes a difference

There are those where home support makes a difference it does and there are those where it doesn't. Guess which team has one of the worst historical records at home in the whole country? - view external link

Fortress Fratton, I'm amazed. Surprised we figured so highly.

OK, the Fortress nottarF is a myth. A few banging on drums and blowing bugles does not a good crowd make. On the other hand that table does not do what the mischievous thread title suggests. All it says to me is that Liverpool and Man U get more decisions at home than anyone else - well surprise, surprise. Anyone who saw Liverpool down the years will remember the old adage. Fall down in front of the Kop and it's a Penalty. As for Man U ... 'Nuff said.
Palace worst of the top flight? have they been there? The place is jumping. Unlike many of the other grounds listed above them!
... and St Mary's? It's a great atmosphere with the Kingsland, Northam and Itchen/Northam all in great form but it could be so much better if only we punted the away fans elsewhere.

That table is based on all league games in history, not just the last couple of seasons, and Palace had pathetic home support for most of their history. A couple of hundred fans in black shirts jumping up and down for a few seasons does not make up for that.

Liverpool have had the best home support in the overall history of football and AFC Wimbledon have probably had the worst, with the Worzels not much better because of all the booing and jeering they subject their own players to.

Well I guess it's open to interpretation but Man Utd have been criticised in the past for lack of vocal support (even by their own Manager if I recall correctly) and Arsenal in the 'Highbury Library' are 3rd? To me that says long term success coupled with who gets the most decisions. Not that it spoils my enjoyment of seeing the so called 'best fans in the World' so far down the page

Again, taking into account the whole history of football, Man United had some of the noisiest and most fanatical home and away support in the country, even if it's been less so in the last decade.

The table says nothing whatsoever about the fans. It is only showing the % of home games won over a period of time. You could have the most fanatical fans in the country, lose every game, and come bottom of the list.
Agree that Pompey have a poor home record though, the away record is worse. But that would be true at most, if not all clubs.

I expect better of you Anus. How does that table show that home support makes a difference? To assess that you would need to compare to the away results during that same period. The teams with the greatest difference between home and away results could then say that their home support makes a difference.
