Motherwell break a habit and win a cup tie

What a struggle! Had we started the game the way we finished it the game would have been an easy win but the first 90 minutes were poor. - view external link

Cnut very impressive but just glad to get through and with 3 teams who finished above us last season we will be seeded in next round just hope we can avoid hearts and rangers

Hardly a ringing endorsement but ultimately it's a cup, you're in the next round or you're not and we did (just) enough.

Winning in such a fashion means what minor positives we can take from the game do little to counter-balance the massive doubts over Baraclough though. If we lose to Killie he should go and arguably even a draw is not good enough.

It was peculiar. Despite our fans being highly disgruntled at the performance over the 90 mins., there wasn't an 'Albion Rovers' feeling around where I was sitting; I think we sensed that, once we'd scored, we'd win.
That said, we were, at times, really slack, especially at the East Fife goal - a gift, but extremely well taken by the type of player I wouldn't mind seeing in a 'Well shirt...........

Very poor performance and East Fife will consider themselves unlucky not to have won. We only looked the better team once they tired. Over the 90 minutes they looked better organised, more competitive, and quicker. Once again our midfield was outfought. Team was generally poor but Josh Law had a night he'll want to forget. I thought Moult looked industrious but lacked support.

Still a wins a win and we're in the next round..

It was a cup game and its all about winning and we did that so, job done. However don't kid yourself on that we have turned any corner because by the sounds of things we struggled badly and can count ourselves fortunate. As soon as we come up against a well drilled and competent side in the next round we will be soundly beaten.

Sounds like we were fortunate last night. It's going to be a more difficult against killie on Saturday. We need get rid of the nerves when we play but that only comes by winning games and with Baraclough in charge they will be few and far between.

I wouldn't necessarily agree that we were lucky in every sense. Connor had one very good save, but we weren't under sustained pressure where it counts. They weren't laying siege to our goal. Well though East Fife played, it was more to do with stifling us than relentless attacking; in my opinion there was time - wasting from very early on. They had a plan, and it nearly succeeded; the tie could have gone their way, but they weren't unlucky to lose.
That said, and given our lethargic performance, we did get away with one, and the same showing against better opponents would not yield the same outcome.
