Is it time for Steve to hold his head high and do the right thing and step down ? . I think so it appears he has lost the dressing room for some time now and i cant see a way forward under Steve Davies. I believe that our squad under the right management can progress in this league and with a few additions we may suprise a few get the right manager and who Knows what can happen!

It's hard to know who to blame.
I think that we're only a decent striker away from being a reasonable side, yesterday was a perfect example of how goals change games. If we'd been able to capitalize on being the better side in the first half I don't think we'd have gone on to concede 3 (the same applies for Swindon too).
If Davies is choosing to go with what we've got because he believes that our strikers are good enough then maybe he should go, but if he can't bring one in because of budgetary constraints then changing the manager isn't going to free up a load of cash to sign a striker. Quite the opposite in fact.
Again - allowing players like Grant, Tootle, Ellis and Uche to leave has been highly questionable but in truth we don't know if / how much his hand was forced on those decisions.
On a side note, how has Nicky Maynard not got a club? Surely he'd be someone we could bring in temporarily? We get a striker that knows where the back of the net is and he gets match fit
I think Nicky would be a good signing for Crewe although Davies would play him centre half !!!. The reason for not offering Grant a new deal was he did not fit the style of play but every side still needs some backbone in the middle we are far too easily knocked off the ball causing added pressure on the defence.
SD is only the fall guy its Bowler and his Directors that are at fault they Refused SD money to buy a few weeks ago and the next breath brought in L Bell another Coach? just what we needed another coach!
Whist I would be in favour of taking him on, probably on a month to month contract, we should be mindful of the fact that he has had injuries and because he is not attached to a club he is unlikely to be fit. I am sure the club will be aware of his situation and may even have spoken to him. I think the situation at Crewe is as much down to the boards way of running the club as any inadequacies of the manager, who I believe is doing as well as anyone could under the circumstances. The fact that Grant wasn't offered a deal I think was the right thing. He would not have fitted in to the current style of play. And that is no criticism of Grant as I felt he was our second best player last season. But we should also remember that Grant is not a character who stays long at any club. We would not have been able to offer him a raise in wages, and we certainly wouldn't have been able to compete with his current employers on wages.
Grant was not released for financial reasons ,the management simply did not recognise his abilities.
I am unsure what you mean Timmy, Grant does not stay at clubs for long ?
He was at Chelsea , then had several years at Southend, went to Stevenage on a Bosman, then left Stevenage because they had financial problems and came to us , as we were prepared to take over his contract, that was Stevenage's decision .
Hardly smacks of club hopping to me !
Let's see things for what they are. SD and Neil Baker have made a huge mistake in allowing Grant to leave .
At present it looks the decision that will see us relegated.
That may sound extreme, but we now have tippy tappy midfielder players in front of a porous defence , never a winning combination !
Not saying he is a club hopper. But he has had a few clubs and never commanded a fee. He was a good player for us but I don't think he would fit in to the style we want to play and you have to respect the fact that the clubs management took a conscious decision. Grant staying, in isolation, would not keep us up.
Firstly Tim, most players don't command a fee these days due to the Bosman rule, secondly actually when he came to Crewe there was no monies changed hands in terms of a transfer fee but there was a 25 per cent sell on clause due to Stevenage if we had sold him for a fee.
We do have to respect the managerial decisions on the basis we aren't able to influence them but the style of the team means nothing when you are the bottom of the league and have won 2 games in 21 .
I have always been on line with what you have said in the past, but over the past few weeks you seem very negative towards anyone who questions the club.
I am not saying that as a criticism more as an observation !
I probably react directly to those who seem to me to criticise for criticism's sake. And I don't need to be ripping into the club cos there are plenty who are more adept at it than I. My views on club and team are generally quite rational. The board are the deciding factor and they have decided the way we operate. I don't take pleasure from seeing the team struggling although I have enjoyed matches this season rather more than I can remember last season. That said, I would like to see us invest in a decent striker who can put the ball in the net. But paying £8k a week is not the answer. I hope this answers your point
