    Thorne

From reports it looks as though Thorne will be back for Saturday.... in Clements words '' he knits the team together'' so it looks as though George is a first choice which is great.
No mention of Bryson at this stage... I think that he could be the '' missing link'' which could help take the team to the next level... add in Hendrick and suddenly with Johnson you have a coordinated midfield.

Great until the next game when we will have to find a replacement for Thorne again for a few more games

Ye of little faith... at least in my eyes Baird would be 6th choice in a 4 man midfield....

I think Thorne is a great player but he is made of tissue paper. We cannot rely on him for more than the odd game at a time before he is out injured again.

Not a question of 'faith', Luckless. I agree with OTR, great player and one I'd like to build the team around, but he has to prove he can manage more than the odd game or two if we're going to try and do that.

You don't need faith luckless when you have evidence.

Someone mentioned on yesterdays moan in that the only games we have won was when Thorne wasn't playing.

True, but at the same time we have not lost while he's been on the pitch

Oldtimeram... no doubt you remember Ron Webster.... how much was he inured t the start of his career yet did he not go on to achieve legendry status as a top player... Thorne will be the same ......

    re: Thorne

thorne is vulnerable & susceptible to injury simply because he does the physical work of two players when player in the anchor role...with him, Johnson, Hughes and Bryson together, I think the heat will be off Thorne a little and that's when he will be at his best; recall the last 10 games of the playoff season starting with Dogs 5-0 at home and culminating in the 4-1 at home in the play-off 2nd leg when Thorne featured in a midfield of himself, Hughes and Bryson...wow...how we dominated teams with that combination
