    New chairman required

Brian McCafferty has announced his retiral from the Society board and as a consequence he'll also cease to be chair of the club board.

There's already an election underway to fill board vacancies.

He's due our thanks for the heavy load the job has carried in the least three years. Who's next? - view external link

Yes, thanks are due to Brian for standing up and doing something positive for the Society and Club in our time of need.

Heard from a decent source he's not a great fan of M McGhee ! I'll assume that's influenced the timing of the decision, but could be barking up the wrong tree !? All that said, hat's off to Brian for shouldering a tough job with little, if any thanks. Respect !

Slightly odd timing I thought. If he was intending to resign I'd have thought he'd have announced it well before the club's AGM. As such its not on the agenda.

Pat on the back to him for doing his bit.

The chairman of the club role is - I assume? - a rather symbolic role given what Les says will go for the time being. The Society, for all the positive it has done, is still suffering from the same negatives which have plagued it for years though and a good decision here is important. *bleep* knows how they write the description though: "Want to be constantly criticised for failing at an impossible job? Apply here!"

A fair summing up I'd say. Its a thankless task and credit to whoever gets the position as they can't expect much help but plenty of criticism.
