Well, the WBA fans seem to despise him. They say he is lazy, clumsy and usually unfit. He has hardly played this season.
Once he left Everton, his goals appeared to dry up.
Again, it might be that only a particular style of play suits him. We took a gamble with Yakubu and it paid off. This would be another big gamble if we actually bought him. I reckon he would be 2.5M, at least. If he was available on loan, and Lambert wants to pursue the long-ball style, we could do worse, perhaps.

Anichebe is worse than Kenwyne Jones IMHO. The only way a £2.5 million deal makes sense,is if West Brom pay us £2.5 million to take him off their hands.

But since they could let him go on a free there is no chance of that. To pick the aforementioned two players seems like a cunning Burnley plan to destabilise us........

Id actually prefer Lawrence to either of the mentioned who couldnt fit into a high-pressing game because of their weight........but I dont see a striker as a priority. An attacking midfielder with pace or even Marshall behind Rhodes
would make sense(particularly from a financial point of view)............some teams manage with 6 in the midfield

Lawrence is sh1t. I wouldn't even extend his loan. He'd done nothing for games on end when he was dropped. If Rhodes remains he needs a proper forward alongside him. If not, how long before the whingers are on about him being isolated, like y'know, when we played Lawrence with him!

Bob - this business of the "high-pressing" game is interesting. Robin has made the point that we seem to do it more effectively in the first half, and then run out of steam. If we don't score during the period of dominance, we begin to look more vulnerable. Might it be sensible to use Lawrence for the early pressure-game, bringing on Koita or Brown for a change of style if no goals have arrived?
(Middlesbrough, of course, have an excellent defensive record, so we might struggle to score, using either formation).
I am torn - like many other posters - between the need for the sort of

The pair of you are talking like we don't need to sign anyone! The likes of Lawrence and koita were OK when the aim was to stay in the league. We've moved on from that now and have money to spend(don't believe Lambert's loans only comment)
