comment from Steve Evans at Leeds:
Lee Erwin needs to get fitter. He can either get fitter or go to Scotland.
Pity the lad's not had any games yet!!
Would be a good loanee.

He is thought to be on the radar of both Aberdeen and Celtic?
would rather he came back to us for the rest of the season. don't need to strengthen those clubs anymore.
Would take him but we would have to off load a couple of strikers first I think. As been said before on the site, great move financially but should have stayed for at least another season with us.
Never quite get this one more season reasoning.
Where is he now? Earning 4/5 times more than before. Completes his contract and is almost made for life. At worst he comes back to Scotland to play for one of our top clubs.
Alternatively plays another season here and is injured and never gets financially rewarding move. Or loses form and does not get move.
Exactly the "one more year bollox" is always trotted out. They have got to take the chance as soon as its presented. If they get a contract offer of 3 years on 5 grand a week it doesn't matter what happens in the rest of their career they are made for life. Look at Stephen Pearson he's an OK player in general but he was near a millionaire by the time Celtic punted him. Staying that "one more year rubbish" just risks the player missing what might be their only chance. Its only a valid argument if the player moves for a minimal improvement in his conditions.Originally Posted by wellwin
If you read it properly you would see I did say it was a great move financially. What has he done football wise over the past year? F*** all. Yes he can come back to Scotland and play after his move to Leeds. He could also have stayed with us for one or two more years to develop and get a more financially rewarding contract. Yes he may get injured and not get a move but lets face it he could get injured playing anywhere, and what are the odds of a career stopping injury? pretty slim I would think.
The vast majority of players dont ever achieve anything in the game. Its their job for most so the motivation of the shiny baubles is very limited unless the player is truly world class and those kind of players are in the minority. Why gamble on staying and getting nowhere in the hope of an even bigger contract when the one on offer will secure you for life and if they turn out as good as "the extra one or two years" with a smaller club isOriginally Posted by wellin
I guess the underlying suggestion in Steve Evans' remark was that he should go to Scotland to get fit, which maybe suggests that he doesn't need to be as fit in Scotland as Leeds need him to be?
Whatever, the lad needs games and he did well for us back end of the season.
Regardless of how much dough you've got in the bank, don't you want to play football?
