    Two up front

so who should partner Rhodes ?
For me Lawrence everytime and if we need to go more direct later in the game I would prefer Brown over Kote , who I think is pretty schite .

Sorry, Needle I didn't see this before I commented on the other thread.
The trouble is with Brown, he can look embarrassingly clumsy. I agree, though, that there are times when his style of player can cause a lot of havoc, just by putting himself about. The crosses have to be accurate and Rhodes would have play his part in terms of movement off the ball.
Target-men are always an issue. Look at Kevin Davies. He looked ineffectual at Rovers, but did an excellent job elsewhere.

Davies only learned to play as a target man under Sam at Bolton. He failed at rovers because he was expected to play like shearer.

Won`t disagree with that . He wasn`t good enough to do what Shearer did , who basically was a target man and a goal scorer .
But what was Davies at Chesterfield and Southampton?

He seemed a powerful runner with ball at saints. One particular goal he scored running at the everton back 4 was outstanding. He seemed to gain weight and slow down at rovers. Too much gym time?

Kevin Davies was fantastic at Chesterfield, and I use the word advisedly. How so? Because of the F.A.Cup run they went on as a Division 3 team in 1997 only losing in the semi-final against Middlesborough after a replay.
